Just wondering why most mic's are named with some combination of letters and numbers instead of giving them cool names.
I refer to the SM57 as the "hammer" because I find it more useful hammering things into place then using it as a microphone, and I have heard people refer to the MD421 as the...
I am having some trouble getting some controls on my M-Audio Axiom 61 to work in Sonar HS. I have managed to get the transport controls, the rotary knobs, and 8 of the faders to work via Midi learn. However, I can't figure out how to get the 9 assignable buttons or the 9th fader to work.
In the...
Options > Key Bindings
Choose a key and select a function, then hit "Bind."
I'm not sure if it will let you toggle between windows. You may have to set a different key to return to the track view.
I use 8 because thats the most I can with my firepod.
I like to track as much as I can and then scrap the tracks I might not need later. It's better to record 6 extra mics that you mute later than to record with one too few.
I have a similar CAD drum mic kit that I use. It's not the best in the world, but for what you pay it doesn't get any better.
I would also consider the AT4040 for vocals.
Phantom power should have nothing to do with it.
The fact that the E-guitar did not pose this problem further supports the fact that it is string noise. Your talent is simply plucking a note that is not fretted or doing something else that is usually not noticeable. If there was no popping with...
What your hearing is string noise.
Try a different mic placement or get your talent (if it's not you) to try and play a little cleaner. Sometimes just being made aware of those noises can fix them.
I don't hear any popping...
There was some string noise that could maybe resemble popping, but as far as I could tell nothing that would resemble an issue with any of your equipment.
Try different speakers?
I just picked up a cheap guitar and want to upgrade all the hardware(Aria Pro-II MA-10). I am having some trouble removing the knobs. There are no screws on the outside to loosen and I can't pull them off for the life of me.
I am not afraid of damaging the electronic components because I plan...
It's not recommended, but as long as your mic's still work you should be fine.
I think it is the pop that goes back into your pre-amp or interface. I would be more worried about damaging that.
But like I said, if everything still works, your fine!
Ok, I would suggest some sort of an audio interface. They make mixers that can record via firewire, but I have no experience with these and they tend to be a little more expensive than most interfaces.
Your also going to need a computer, which I am assuming you have since you are on this forum...
It all depends on how big of a deal this demo is. Honestly, if your never going to use the recording gear again you may as well go to a studio!
Your question is way to broad for me to even approach it though! Without knowing more theres not much to say. How serious is this project? How good do...
It is far from the conventional method, but there is nothing wrong about doing it that way.
9 out of 10 people you ask about recording distortion (I am assuming you mean a guitar cab) will tell you to use a SM57.
Generally large diaphragm condensers are used for vocals, acoustic guitars etc...
Behringer PX300 ULTRAPATCH PRO
I am guessing you meant the PX3000... and why do you need a patch bay?
I agree with tojo- SM58's are good live vocal mic's, thats about it.
If you are looking at solo acoustic stuff, look into a cheap pair of condensers. Then research some stereo mic'ing...
Sonar is great software.
With Sonar home studio you have the ability to multi track record. However, you don't have to.
I would suggest just buying the software (or even cheaper software) and recording with your computers built in "Line input." You can dub over as many tracks as you want in...
I have the V-AMP combo.
My only complaint about this amp is the speaker they put in it, and since you are looking at the V-AMP Pro, this won't be a problem.
This unit is very versatile. There are something like 32 amp models that you can combine with 15 cab models and add with any effects you...
They are recording 8 songs. It will probably be the difference between a few days or about 1 hour for the amp.
I know it would be better to actually have the amp the whole time, but thats just not an option.
Thanks for your advice.
