    True Confessions:...

I've sold most of my analog stuff, except for a couple of 424mkII and a SoundMaster board. I used the money to get back into photography, but damn it, I miss piddling around with the TSR-8 and 38. I've still got my 909s and 4300 for playing two track stuff. I think within a year or two (once...

Help sourcing old M2524 replacement knobs and fader caps!!

I bought the last of the red capped knobs from Tascam a couple of years ago to replace mine, and I believe the others were near gone or depleted at that point as well. Ebay or finding a donor board is going to be your best bet. I don't know what other manufacturer would have similar size...

    dp-oo4 2 questions

I guess the first question I will pitch at you is, have you installed the latest firmware on it yet?? As far as question #2, I haven't really tried what you are attempting, but I guess worst case scenario, you could always export to .wav, connect to the computer via USB and rename the files...

    help with dp 008

Try backup up/exporting one track at a time, pulling it off onto your computer via USB, delete the file in the "wav" directory of the SD card, disconnect, and repeat with the next track.

If that wasn't a mono setup, I might have jumped all over that.

Tascam 414 mkII question - # of mics?

Do any of the mics require phantom power?

Only Jacks 1 And 2 In My Audacity

Ditch Audacity and download Reaper. Reaper is a true multi-track DAW software (doesn't have all the bells and whistles of ProTools, but a very solid DAW none-the-less) that has a free trial download and is only $40 for the license (last I checked... highly suggested to support the project, but...

    DP-008 volume

I'm going off an assumption that the DP-008 is similar to the DP-004, only with more channels and built-in effects. There should be a button along the top that says "Input Setting". Once you press that button, it should give you a list of the inputs (internal mics 1/2, and mic/line inputs) and...

Parting with gear is such sweet sorrow...

Hey Cory! Ever since the gear left my residence, I haven't really missed it. Then again, I don't do much recording at all now, so that might be part of it. My 5 year old takes up all my free time with martial arts, baseball, and who knows what else from day to day. I imagine at some point if...

Parting with gear is such sweet sorrow...

Hey Pete! Well, I was running out of room too, but unfortunately I wasn't using any of it. So, I decided to clean out the 'ol closet. Now if I could just clean out my office and garage of random crap...

Parting with gear is such sweet sorrow...

Well, I parted with my TSR-8, M2516, and MTS-1000 this afternoon. It's going to a good home in Austin. I think I might get visitation rights. LOL

Parting with gear is such sweet sorrow...

I've given it alot of thought and just couldn't justify holding onto a great piece of gear if I truly wasn't going to use it. Lack of use can't be good for the thing. I figured the caps, belt, rubber, and who knows what else would deteriorate if I kept it, so why not sell it to someone who...

Parting with gear is such sweet sorrow...

Well, I said goodbye to my favorite piece of gear today and watched my 388 leave to go to it's new home. I was hesitant on selling it, but I knew in all reality I wouldn't really ever use it again. If I ever do any personal stuff, my pair of 424mkII will do the job handily, as I won't be...

    DP-004 Export Questions

Unless you have renamed the file, or created a new "song" with a different name, then "SONG001" is what you are working under. You can go into the menu to the "WAV" section and export the tracks that you have on the DP-004. You should then be able to see the files in a "WAV" directory once you...

How Many Regular Members Are No Longer Here?

I couple of the projects I was working on involving my analog gear fell through in most part due to the lack of commitment by the other people involved. Since then I've been getting back to my 1st love: photography. Even then, I still shoot on film. My son is getting older and at the age to...

    Tascam TSR-8 problem

Now that I think about it, alignment wouldn't be an issue if the pre-recorded stuff sounds fine and has the correct general output, as well as recording on the current tape. Did you clean the record head as well? Get a bright light and a magnifying glass if you have to in order to get a good...

    DP-008 tips

Make sure you set your trim levels so that the "OT" lights do not come on, and make sure you are not peaking out the meters on the screen. If you are, there should be some bars that stay at the top of the range for a few seconds on the channels and master channels on the screen. I'm basing...

    Tascam TSR-8 problem

Did you recently acquire this machine? I'm thinking that the machine could possibly be calibrated for a different type of tape and/or the heads could be dirty. That's what pops up first for me anyway.
