Well, I can't really talk about the recording stuff (yes, lol at the noob :P) but i can say taht that comp is almost perfect, apart from the PSU, you should look at the Corsair hx-520, as its one of the most reliable psu's on the market :D

If you have the USB adapter for it then you can, but if not, then you cant.

Just another question: For all of those who use Pro Tools, would it be easier for later upgrades if I started with a 003R instead of the Fire Studio? I was jsut thinking its not that much more.. and all the professional studios where I live use Pro Tools...

You do not need a MIDI interface for audio... Do I have to say it again to make you understand? You need an audio interface like a Presonus Firepod or something..

MIDI can only do MIDI.. It can't do audio... You need an audio interface to get audio on your computer..

I'm not completely sure, but I dont think its possible... As it will probably be using Midi over USB (MIDI cant hold audio btw) it wont be able to send anything other than MIDI signals to your computer, so it wouldn't be able to send audio that you want..

Yeah. I like the Beta 58's more than the 87a's... Sansamp Bass Driver looks pretty sweet too... I'd probably get a Behringer DI for the keyboard as they seem fairly solid.. I've just remembered that I have a copy of cubase sx3 (i'm guessing its better than LE?) Sennheiser e604's look amazing...

Well, I feel i'm ready to dedicate a lot of time to getting some decent recordings of my band... But I don't want to continually pay for someone else to do all of our recordings (plus I wouldn't mind a lot more control over my mixes), hence me buying under $2k of gear ^^ Band...

Turns out that our drummer had 3 Nakamichi CM-100's or CM-1000's (cant remember which). Can we use them as overheads for the drums? Any other appications for these mics?

Cheers m8 for that - makes it a lot simpler :)... Discovered taht our drummer has a decent vocal mic so we'll try that 2day :D I'll post back later to tell you what it is...

We only use it for practise adn where we play they have a marshall full stack so were fine for amps atm..
