You know, what I like to do is have the guitarist sit down (on an electric guitar, yet unplugged) I will then sit in hearing distance, and set a mic up to record. I then record me playing a cowbell to the guitarist's playing.
Two things done...
A) Click Track
B) Cowbell Track
All problems...
If the band was good enough and the only expenses are those associated with touring at a constant rate the day job would go out the window for me.. (food should be included with that and truck stops have showers, so fuck hotels)
Look at HIMSA.. they're touring style is my kinda life..

HR Forum Tour 2010!
Kidding.. I for one agree with the seabeast (froggy)..
I was in a band in GA for awhile called The Nuclear Option (Metal Band) and we didn't think of so much as leaving the county until we were playing capacity shows in town.. then we started branching out around GA, and...
Also, 1986 Laney Protube-Lead AOR 50watt Head, 150 shipped.. the only thing that one had wrong with it was the mid knob was broken.. easily enough fixed.
OTH... I did get screwed on an SM57 once, showed up with a busted capsule.. paid 50 for that..

I got my MOTU 2408 with the 324 PCI Card shipped in the Original MOTU Box with All Documentation and the driver disc.. I paid 50 bucks :-D so I definately can't complain..
... Switching from the onboard audio card stereo drum recordings to multi-tracking drums with little/no latency...
You could probably get away with rackmounting your whole set up there..
250 -- Raxxess Carpeted Converta Rack (10space)
40 --- Gator Slant Top Rack Laptop Tray (....Laptop......)
30 --- Raxxess 2U Standard Rack Utility Shelf (Mixer)
------
That'd be about 320 for racking the whole thing with...
Massive Mastering
John has a special right now, depending on your package selection you can get the whole album done for your budget, and his service will come highly recommended by alot of people on this board (Farview, Harvey, etc).

I'd would honestly say go with an MBOX then, expecially since you don't have a DAW at this point, might as well start with Pro-Tools. Better than spending 500 bucks on a DAW and then spending more on an interface. The MBOX 2 is 450.. 2 mic-pre's usb interface and protools

I agree with Pre-Sonus, while I've heard mixed reviews I have had experience with one through a friend of mine recently.. It worked smoothly for him.
Also, I forgot one thing in my previous post.
No you do not have to use the CueMix you should be able to route entirely from withing Sonar...
I don't personally own an 8-Pre but the fairly limited hands on experience I had with one was quite nice. I also know alot of people that use it, and I'm an avid MOTU fan (No pun intended).
Personally, I use Sonar 7 Producer Edition with a MOTU 2408 and a 324PCI Card with Pre-Amps from my board...
On Topic Reply:
My personal interest in the Beatles was never solely based on the quality of song, an added interest was due to the fact that they had 27 Number One Hits out of 29 Released Singles.. An Excellent Accomplishment.
Therefore, I study those 27 songs intently so that I may have a...
I'm not saying that the Who didn't have their moments..
ie: Won't Get Fooled Again, Who Are You, (MAAAAAYBE) My Generation.. but for the most part.. I can't get into them..
Example: I may be to ONLY person alive that likes Limp Bizkit's Version of Behind Blue Eyes better than the Original...
Are you looking to solely record live vocals and program everything else?
(I'm assuming yes as you didn't mention anything else in the OP)
Also, do you have a DAW currently and what kind of computer system are you running?
-Paul
Do you have any microphones currently? If so how many more are you wanting..
Or are you just looking for an interface, in which case I'll assume that you want pre-amps included.
Also, what kind of computer are you using?

Side Note: I use Sonar 7 Producer Edition and that works for me...

Side Note: I also like the idea of recording the pick-up and the mic.. options are a good thing...
2nd Side Note (To Self): Options are a Good Thing.. good song title.. write that down...
