It may have been sonic Albert a few years back. Maybe somebody else. My memory isn't as good as it was.
I bought the thing. It sat in my rack. It went into storage with the rest of my gear when things went south. But now I have a new respect and admiration for this box. Here is why.
On the...
Well, she took our savings account before I could so something has to go. :rolleyes:
Right now I'm looking at my most expensive piece of gear :(. I love it dearly but I'll pick up another when the smoke clears.
DBX 162SL Dual Compressor Limiter. Very low hours - I've only had it for 3 months...

Here's Old Rex as of now - notice the purdy LEDs. Those are the completed modules. It helps me keep track of which are finished :rolleyes:
Recently, I...
I'm unsure how many peeps here actually *get* my sound. But I know a few do enjoy it. Aphasia Complex - Track 7 here:

Just remixed it from the ground up and added the VOX tracks. Mixed mostly in the box and then the entire mix run out to analog gear to kick it into...
Why bother? Have you seen the price of gas? Have you noticed the price of groceries? Can you say R-E-C-E-S-S-I-O-N?
I like patchcords, I use them pretty much everyday. But they always seem to give up the ghost when I need them most. Hey! Ima poet and don't even know it... :D
Patchcords cost...
Really not sure if this is the best place to post this...
It looks like a management company with an artist who is negotiating a label deal wants to interview me as the full time sound man and recording engineer for their artist. :cool:
It has been ages since I worked in a real studio and even...
Here is the ultimate channel strip of absolute doom.
On a universal rack shelf I have mounted a TubePre, a Mustang (car stereo) 10 band graphic EQ and an Alesis Micro Limiter. Yes duct tape was necessary :rolleyes:
This sounds horrid. But it does such wonderful things when you want to make...

Has anybody here done this?
What I need help with is ordering the PCBs. Apparently, the only way to do this is to sign up with Prodigy Pro and order through the forum. However, I cannot get signed up...
Here's the deal. In my yard is a metal shed and one day I was cleaning it out when it began to rain. After a few minutes I became aware of some interesting rhythms produced by the rain drops on the metal roof combined with the louder hits of water coming off the tree branches above.
What I want...
For the rest of my life I plan to build my own cables. I'm so sick of paying stupid prices for premade crap that doesn't last. So I've ordered 500' of good mic cable.
Now I need a good source for 1/4" TRS plugs. Anybody know of a place with reasonable pricing?
Here are the dimensions of my music room.
Music Room Dimensions
L = 19' 4"
W = 11' 5"
H = 7' 10"
The room is carpeted. Walls are very thick 1/2" wainscotting. When I run this info through RealTraps ModeCalc I get the following problem modes (roughly).

440
I have Yamaha HS80 monitors...

I just got my hands on a AudioFire 12 and so far I am very impressed with the build quality. It's like a battleship. So now that these can be bought for $500 I am actually considering getting a 2nd unit to double my channels. Has anybody tried this?
Any problems with this?
I have upgraded to something better. This card works great and looks like new - bought it in July 07. Never any problems with it.
$150 or best offer - shipped. PM offers please.
Will list on Ebay Friday if no takers here...
I just stumbled on a remote control, model RC-20 for Akai reel to reel machines like the GX-625.
I thought I would give it a shot here before putting up on Ebay.
First $20 takes it - shipped.
Ok I gave this 24 hours here - now it's on Ebay...
This is not my Toa but it is the 16 channel version of the one I own. I don't know the guy selling this but thought I might post it here because I hate to see the unit parted out...
I can't believe how many channel strips and other pieces of large format consoles are for sale on Ebay. What bothers me is seeing descriptions where the seller said he parted out a perfectly working console in order to offer the strips. WTF? I think that really sucks.
Do you really make that...
I decided to buy myself a birthday present for all my hard work. In one of the studios I did synth repairs I had the oportunity to play with a Rhodes Chroma and a Fender Rhodes Chrome Polaris.
I loved both instruments, really expressive and unique sounding. I am now the proud owner of a...
I did attempt to search the forum before making this thread but I kept getting screwed up by this...
Really annoying! :mad:
So much for that. Anyway, I would like to know if this machine is any good. How much should I pay for one?
Does anybody here use one?
Thanks

Coming from me, this says alot. I've never been much of a modeling synth fan. Hard to ignore this box though - wow!
