    noob with tascam 4 track

Man, your 4-track is INVALUABLE in learnign how to record and mix. HAve you started bouncing tracks yet? IF so---do the vocal harmonies yourself!!! The ProTools and M-Audio will do just fine, but remember--if you have a bad signal going in, it will sound bad on the CD no matter what you mix...

    Multi-effect/mic/single effect on 2488

Hey ya'll, how is everyone? I have a question...as you know i just got my 2488, had it about a week now. Gotten excellent results tracking with one exception: when I record, I am going with rhythm guitar #1 to track 2 and rhythm guitar #2 to track 3. Instead of micing one of my cabs, I am...

    2488 Question

I agree with this..."pro" computer-based software will do the trick. The 2488 does a great job overall, but nothing beats computer based mastering for the home studio.

    rackmounting a 424 mkIII

You could try just placing it in a rack drawer. I used one in a live rig to record shows and just used it out of a 4 space rack drawer.

    Opinions on Magix!

I have a copy of Magix Audio Studio Deluxe and I was wondering if anyone out there had worked with it before? It seems pretty straight-forward, but the EQ/compression is not really very good. so, hit me with your comments on the 2005 version of MAGIX Audio studio!

Mix It Like A Record - My review...

But to that I say, is it really a GOOD thing for a band to record an album using all the plugs/effects/processing available to the point that they never even play a song ALL THE WAY THROUGH while recording...? Don't you fel that if a band/solo artist/etc. can't pull off a song while recording...

Mix It Like A Record - My review...

No Mo-Kay, youa re not alone. We rely too much on effects processing htese days. I am a fan of letting the band, singer/songwriter, etc. sound like themselves. Whether that calls for a lot of effects, so be it. But there is nothing worse than listening to almost every major-label record...

    soft or hard knee

soft-knee v. hard-knee I am a soft-knee kinda guy. Just seems to fit what I record better...no drastic changes! I feel it is a much smoother transition.

Just bought a new TASCAM 2488

Well, I am mainly working with singer/songwriters at this point. So, I will not need a whole lot of onboard mixing at this time. BUT, on down the road, when I do need more processing (as I always need to use a bit more when working with rock/punk/country/blues/bluegrass bands), will the 2488...

Just bought a new TASCAM 2488

I am running from the TASCAM 424 MKIII into the SoundblasterLive! 24-bit card via a, don't laugh, a RCA to 1/8" jack. I am just hoping that I can do most of the mixing on the 2488 as oposed to transfering it to the computer. I am doing a lot of mobile recording and being the 2488 has the...

Just bought a new TASCAM 2488

I recently purchased a TASCAM 2488, but I wanted to ask someone who knows---will the 2488 interface with MAGIX Audio Studio Deluxe, 2005 version, without the latnecy I could never overcome when using it with my 424 MKIII? A bit more on the problem I am having with the 424 (and hope not to have...
