Thanks again everyone for your informative responses. I have everything up and running now; only problem is that one of the monitors suffers from a strange random crackling that I'm trying to isolate. I've tried everything I can think of: different cords, switching outputs on the mixer...
Thanks for the info...
BUT...here my confusion starts...! According to the 24/96 manual:
VARIABLE SIGNAL LEVELS: The options in this section allow the user to match the Audiophile analog output levels to the operating signal levels of external audio equipment. 2 level selections are...
Thanks all for the informative responses!
I should've gone in to a bit more detail, but my major question has been answered...from what I understand now, it is perfectly OK to use an unbalanced TS cable beween balanced TRS jacks...it's just not the best it could be, that's all (i.e. -6dB loss...
TRS vs TS
I originally posted this in Newbies, maybe someone has the answer...
I just picked up some KRK RP5s today, and the guys at the music shop sold me some instrument cables to go from my mixer to the monitors. The outputs on the mixer are TRS, as are the inputs on the monitors. According...
I just picked up some KRK RP5s today, and the guys at the music shop sold me some instrument cables to go from my mixer to the monitors. The outputs on the mixer are TRS, as are the inputs on the monitors. According to the music store guys, this doesn't matter; they said guitar cables, even...
Is it generally accepted that anything less than 20ms of latency is OK? I've got about 7.5ms latency right now, did some tests with Live 5 and can't currently get it lower. I never noticed a delay when recording bass, keyboard or guitar. The only time latency was an issue was when recording...
K so I put the soapdish humidifiers into my electric bass cases yesterday morning and when I went to practise bass this evening, it was about +3 cent sharp. My basses have solid tuners and don't usually fluctuate much. Does this mean the humidifier is working and making the wood in the neck...
Today's the first day of my soapdish humidifying. Is there an approximate timeframe where I'd know they are working, or is it more of a constant preventative thing during the winter? Also, how many holes should I put in the soapdishes? I've got 3 in now, about 2mm wide. Is this enough for...
I'm going to give this a go as the maple neck on my older stingray bass is being affected by moisture loss I think...I have a question, though: my electric cases are essentially "molded" to the shape of the bass' body (headstock area is open though)...will putting a soapdish humidifier still...
Thanks for the responses people!
I'm not too concerned about the appearance of the bass, I don't plan to sell it, I just want to protect it so that I can use it for years to come. So perhaps the shellac thing will be fine. Sorry about my ignorance regarding humidifiers, I thought they applied...
The '82 stingray I got this past summer had a few nicks and scratches in the lacquer on the maple neck (and a few on the body) but nothing that concerned me too much. But now with the drier winter air (I assume), these spots are starting to flake a bit and some of the nicks have exposed wood...
Does anyone here use Ableton Live? I have been using the demo of Live 4 that came with my Audiophile 2496 and I'm really liking it. I found online student shop that has Live 5 for pretty cheap. Well, cheaper than the MSRP anyway
I've read on forums that Live 5 has some bugs...
NP sirnothingness, I should've mentioned more in my post about why I didn't mind a cheap guitar. I just needed an electric twanger for the dominant 7th and 9th chords in my funk music.
Light, you are correct in saying u get what u pay for regarding setups...I took my Stingray bass to 2...
I don't claim to know much musical theory, but I'll say this...if that keyboard part is NOT in the wrong key, it certainly SOUNDS like it is...which is about the same as being in the wrong key, IMO.
Anyway, I'm of the opposite opinion...I think the sound is catchy and good and it doesn't need...
$60 around here gets a set-up at a good luthier, but the local music shops are about $20-30. I know the guitar is cheap but I don't mind fiddling with it to learn how to set up a guitar. I put thicker-gauge strings on, which meant cutting into the nut a bit (and also lowering it slightly by...
I recently bought a cheap Silvertone Revolver electric guitar to facilitate home recording. I was doing a demo of a song that uses lots of open chord playing, and upon playback, noticed things didn't sound quite right. I intonated the guitar to the best of my ability (doing the 12th fret/open...
Thanks for listening, Valiance! Sure, I'd play some bass on your tunes if you want - I liked "You're Wrong" ('cept for the keyboard :D ). Do you have any other music online?
I agree that Live is easy to use...I was making music with it shortly after installing it. I've tried Acid and Adobe...
I like the song...it's catchy and sounds good. I'm really impressed that it has that "pocket" at slower tempo. It might be easy for you but I can't do it. I would personally put the vocals a bit higher, take out the keyboard (or record a different part; it just sounds "wrong" to me) and put...
