Just on general principle, whenever I buy a used ribbon, I send it in to have it re-ribboned and checked out. (That's one reason I like to buy blown ribbon mics).... I'd highly recommend Stephen Sank for re-ribboning your Varacoustic. He just did a Varacoustic for me, and it sounds fabulous...

Hi Wade... Cool to run into someone else who likes this mic... I don't think there are that many RE38s out there.... I think they are pretty unique tonally... They seem to work on things I have a problem getting a good sound on (the aforementioned kick and AC30), so they are sorta my wild card...
