    shopping.........

It can be done The Alesis QS 6.1 might do it for you, but I think that the sounds are fairly cheesy compared to other manufacturers' boards. I would look at the S30 from Yamaha. I don't know what the price is on a new S30, but I would spend $500 on a used S30 before I'd buy the Alesis board...

    Novation A Station Opinions

Had any experience with it? What do you think of it? I am looking at an analog modeling synth that won't break the bank. Specifically I need a rack mount synth b/c of space issues, I don't need or want another keyboard. I tried the Korg Ms2000r, The Nord Lead (way out of my price range), the...

    Yamaha S90 - a dream come true!

yeah, I played the S90, and thought it was a nice keyboard. I didn't have much time to play the different patches but I had heard of the triple strike piano sample, and wanted to check it out and compare it to my s80 piano. I was playing in a noisy room so I probably missed most of the nuances...

    Motif Module?

Does anyone know whether any of the tone generator modules that Yamaha puts out has the same (or similar) sound palette as the Motif or S-80? All I am looking for is the sound palette, I don't need the other bells and whistles... Thanks Albert

    Korg Triton

I third the MOTIF. It is an excellent board and sounds great. The Triton does not compare... Do yourself a favor. Go to the music store and play the piano patch on both the motif and the triton and then decide which is the better sounding board. Also, play the EP patches, the organ patches...

    Yamaha S80

Hey TexRoadkill Again, I am admittedly very partial to Yamaha. One thing that I am not necessarily impressed with are the drum sounds on the S80. However, I have not tried editing any of them. I have an Alesis DM pro module which takes care of all my drumming needs. I found Rolands to be...

    Yamaha S80

Not to be contrarian, But, I would get the S-80 over any roland product on the market. Polyphony as far as I am concerned has little to do with anything I would consider since you don't need 128 simultaneous voices unless you're heavily into sequencing songs and using 128 voices at the same...

    Keyboards with sequencer?

Sojko2 Digital outs... How could I have forgotten that...!! :) Albert

    Keyboards with sequencer?

Uh huh!! Yeah.. I can see how the included sequencer/sampler might be valuable as a songwriting/performance tool. I do all of my sequencing in Digital Performer, so that the included sequencer is really an obsolete option for me... unless I use it for performances, which I do very little of...

    Keyboards with sequencer?

Ditto Couldn't agree with you more... I have a Yamaha S80, and although I am not interested in the included sequencer, I love the MOTIF... It's a really amazing sounding board... Roel, save up, everything else is not worth the money..., or wait until the prices drop (that may be a while...

    Yamaha Motif

Chriss Are we talking about the same board? What's the RS 7000. My take on the motif is that it is very versatile, and could be used in a variety of music styles including R&B, Jazz/Blues and rock... I use my s80 for all of the above styles. Albert

    Yamaha Motif

I love the sounds on that Board. I have an S80, and the Motif continues Yamaha's excellently clean sounds. I like the Piano sounds... They are bright and not as mid rangey as your typical piano sounds. I especially love the Rhoades, EP sounds: Clear, crisp and very expressive. I was also...

    Home Studio Keyboard Recommendations

Review??? HomeRec Now that you've had the Alesis board for a while, can you give us some honest to goodness opinion on the quality of the board... I mean does it sound good? What specific sounds do you use and what kinds of music to you play. I have a QSR, but don't use it much. . . The price...

How do you get a tight BASS sound?

Thanks Crosstudio. I realize the limiations of keyboard basses. I am actually trying to get my bassist to sound good. It does't sound bad mind you, but it doesn't have that roundness we're all talking about. Actually, he plays a high end Pedulla thunder bass, six strings, active pick ups. I...
