    Simultaneous inputs to a computer

According to Apple, the PowerBook G4 has a stereo line in and an integrated microphone (doesn't specify stereo or not). A balanced line mic plugged into that would give you the same thing on each channel, except it would be 180 degrees out of phase. A true stereo mic would give you stereo, but...

    Simultaneous inputs to a computer

Balanced lines use a TRS or XLR. That is why it has the plug that it does.

    PCI recording

With that setup you are going to wind up with only 2 tracks on your computer which will basically be a stereo mix of everything that is fed into the mixer (keyboard, drum machine, mike).

    Why do Epi fans

Hey, I LIKE my Epiphone! Of course, it's a 1967 Cortez flat-top acoustic made in Kalamazoo at the Gibson factory. And I bought it for $50 in 1972. Not a bad deal, all in all. :D Several years ago, in a guitar class, I ran into a guy who had the equivalent Gibson. We had a lot of fun...

    pro studio vandalized?

If losing your data will be catastrophic, it only makes sense to have both on-site and off-site backups. For a commercial enterprise that is dependent on that data, it is mandatory. I could see a commercial studio that failed to take that simple precaution being sued in the event of a...
