    UAD 2 Announcement

That kinda sucks. You have to buy a UAD2 by the end of the year to get the free crossgrade for your plugins to the UAD2. So if I decide to buy one next year, I have to pay $25 for each plugin I want to transfer. I already payed for the plugins once!!!

complete upgrade from current setup...diagram included

The integrated sound on a computer is poo. And you will have latency issues trying to monitor what you are recording.

Modeling linear "Superchunks" and other fun stuff.

And....you lost me. :o You are into some stuff that I have no idea, but it all looks very interesting! I'm always jealous of people who are good with woodworking. I am happy when I can make something resembling a rectangle to frame a panel. :D The only semi-interesting thing I have built...

    Need help building new computer

Solid. I HATE moving everything over to a new computer and reconfiguring everything; but that feeling of having a new powerful computer set up how you want is great.

burning a live concert onto a cd, software??

CD Architect would be a pretty cheap way to go. Not much editting features, but it can do what you are asking. Sound Forge can do a bunch more editting if you need that.

Bruce Miller 10 minute mixing demo video

Heh heh, I wish I had a big console to dance around and hit buttons and faders as fast as I can. Then again, I'm not sure I have that much energy...:D

After mastering, which burning speed, help?

Wow, that drive sounds a little sketchy...At least it is cheap! :D My favorite drives at the moment are the Plextor Premium (of course) and the PX760. The PX760 would be my fave if it had an option for 24X CD burning. It goes 8x to 16x to 32x; 32 being just a little outside of my comfort zone...

After mastering, which burning speed, help?

I don't know what kind of jacked up drive you got, but in most situations I have found that 8x is ideal, 16x is adequate, and anything between is also good. Above 16x, things have a tendency to get a little "sloppy"... I suppose that being a run-of-the-mill consumer drive, the makers just...

    hooking up a sub

A well-treated room with as flat of a response as you can muster. And anyways, all the good stuff is above 60Hz...;)

I need some advice on running this shit.

I don't think you should feel guilty at all at those rates. I started off doing a flat rate thing, but told them it was an introductory deal. I only had one band later on that got a little miffed that I wouldn't do the flat rate deal anymore and they kind of had the attitude that I owed them...

    How Can Someone Accomplish This?

I like this option best. I would just record straight into Sound Forge, drop markers as you record (you'll probably have to be fast unless you tell the reader to give you a decent pause after each sentence), do Markers to Regions, and then Extract Regions to seperate wav files. Should be...

    Polyurethane Foam for Bass trap?

It is just fancy-cut mattress foam once again. Whatever foam he found locally over there in "Asia" is probably going to be much cheaper than having FBM ship stuff out to him. Auralex isn't that much more expensive than FBM and is much higher quality. Yes I have used both.

plugin to analyze eq spectrums for all your tracks simulataneously?

Voxengo's SPAN is a nice analyzer. I mainly use it to check the center freqs of sibilance for de-essing, or to check for content that I can't hear either due to my ears or my speakers (synths or whatever blaring below 40Hz or above 16K). Your idea for usage sounds very inefficient, and I'm...

    Raid?

At the time, it was cheaper for me to get two 200GB drives than it was to get a single 400GB drive. So I thought, hey cool I'll just do that fancy Raid0 thing and I'll have a big drive to record audio on plus I'll never have to worry about bogging down a single hard drive while playing back a...

    Polyurethane Foam for Bass trap?

Sorry, but I don't expect 4" of furniture foam to do much in the bass department. Absorbing some slap echo in the upper freqs is probably about the best you can hope for. I think some large chunks of that fiberglass stacked in the corners would be best.

Seventh Circle Audio T15 First-Hand Experience?

Agreed. It will teach you basic sweatshop skills, and give you a basic idea of what components go into a preamp, but that is about it. Still saves you the cost of someone (or machine) else putting it together though.

Seventh Circle Audio T15 First-Hand Experience?

If nothing else, it will be a good starter kit to get your feet wet before trying to build the more expensive ones. I don't think it will be a waste no matter what.

    Digital recording snare transients

Apparently the 1010 has a button on the back to switch between +4dbu and -10dbV. You want the button out for +4, which I believe is what your Onyx should be sending out if you have everything cabled up properly. If you are stilling clipping at the A/D, then you may need to get an inline pad...
