BR1600 drum machine v external drum machine

I'll check my td-3 settings to see if perhaps those levels are higher than yours, causing it to peak. Also, are you running just one cable from the mono out of the brain into your 1180, or stereo out with two cables?

BR1600 drum machine v external drum machine

I tried this out this weekend but found I could not replicate your setting suggestions without major distortion. I had to turn the input sensitivity down quite a bit (less than mid-way) to keep it from distorting. I did manage to get a decent track out of it once I adjusted. It may just be...

    BR 1180 Phantom Power

If it's anything like the BR-1600, which is the machine I use, you can turn on the phantom power to operate the condensor and still plug in the dynamic mic without a problem.

I can't wait to try out your suggestions. Appreciate the tips!

BR1600 drum machine v external drum machine

I followed Dumby's route and bought the Roland TD-3 v-drum kit to plug directly into the 1600. There was only one major draw-back with my decision to go that way-- I forgot that I'm not a real good drummer! I do okay but it obviously limits the drum tracks for my tunes. I've used the internal...

    Drive is busy

This was happening to me on my BR-1600. I optimized the song, deleted unnecessary tracks, re-optimized and it kept happening. Anytime I tried to record another track it would stop in the middle with "Drive Busy!". It drove me nuts. I did a search on the Roland site and came up with the...

    Midi Help

Man this is frustrating! I feel like I've tried every dang setting option there is and still no results! I'm not sure if I'm monitoring the midi or not. Should I be able to see a level on the recording VU even if I'm not actually recording? I did the metronome test and I could see the midi...

    Midi Help

I think the setup I was after was supposed to allow for hearing the td-3 module sounds. So I have a midi in and midi out cable connecting the tascam and the td-3. The US-428's midi in LED lights up when I hit a pad on the td-3, so it appears that signal is good. But the record vu's in n-track...

    Midi Help

I registered over at N-tracks but the damn thing won't let me post! Hoping someone can assist me here: I'm trying to record my Roland TD-3 drums as midi tracks in n-tracks. I'm using a Tascam US-428 as the interface with my laptop I'm able to record audio no problem. Can't seem to get the...

The LCD screen on the BR1600

Can't say I've noticed any problem with mine. Would that be covered under the extended warranty that you purchased? Yuk-yuk.

    External Soundcard?

I'm such a ditz! After I went to the zzsounds website, following crankz1's link, I realized what I was looking at was something I already owned! I've had a Tascam US-428 sitting in my closet for a least 5 years (seems than long, anyway). I bought it to do my recording on my imac, then went a...

    External Soundcard?

This is good to hear! Cheaper may have to win out for now... I'm spending way more on this hobby than my wife would like. It's always one more little thing! Thanks for the feedback everyone! Gotta go shopping! --Nv

    External Soundcard?

Can anyone tell me if there's such a thing as an external soundcard? I have the use of a laptop from my employer that I have at home on weekends. Would like to use it to add to my home recording setup-- but I don't want to have to install hardware or reconfigure it drastically. Any hope for...

    Guitar noise on BR1600

I experience similar noise with my electric... on many of the effects it sounds like a loose, rattling spring on a snare drum overiding everything else. To the point where I've been bypassing the BR-1600 effects and using my POD. I'll try moving away from the unit and see if that minimizes it.

    Curious

Thanks! Greatly appreciated. I'll goof around with it this weekend on the demo version.

    Curious

Thanks, David! But if I start using N-track as my multi-tracker-- what will I tell my wife about that other piece of gear sitting there unused? Not only that, I have my monitors connected through the BR-1600. And what about connecting mics and guitars... don't I need another piece of gear to...

    Curious

I'm thinking about expanding my recording experience by getting n-track. I currently record using the BR-1600 multi-track but would like to do wave editing and the like. I have a laptop with a pentium 4 and 2.80 Ghz processor to use for the software. Is this fast enough? Do I need anything...

    Connecting PC to the BR-1600

I think some of you BR owners also run a PC sequencer with your unit. I've been considering this too but don't know enough about how you integrate these two devices. Can someone explain generally how it works? Do you record everything on the BR normally and then import the recorded tracks...

    Synching DR 770 w BR1600

Hey, Radiohead0709. I'm curious why you're synching a drum machine to the br and not using the br's drum patterns. Is it easier? The br's drum program just doesn't come easily to me.

    Boss Br1600 beginnings and ends

I think if you make sure to start the song where you want to start it during the master recording (ie, remove the count-in by starting the playback right at the first beat) then that's what gets recorded to the master v-track, which is what will be burned to cd. If you were to start the master...
