Mixdown via soundcard st Line in

I am no expert in this, but I have made cd's this way from my FD4. I had trouble using 'line in,' too. I think my level was low. I took a chance and plugged it into my computer's mic input instead, and it sounded great. I don't know if I am risking having too hot a level coming in using mic...

    Alesis Microverb 4 - a good buy?

I agree with fishmed. I was worried about the quality, too, but am extremely happy with what it adds to my vocals and acoustic guitar. [This message has been edited by dlea@wipfli.com (edited 06-15-2000).]

    Fostex FD-8/4 to CDA track

Is there any way the midi connection can be used to get digital audio to the computer?

    zip drive interference

I was trying to think of a way to shield the jack from the drive, but since I moved the drive as far away as the cable will reach, I have not heard it again. There are also two wooden shelves between my drive and the FD-4. Of course, now I see you have an internal drive, so that's no help...

SCSI!? zip!? fd-4?! terminator??! please help!?

I agree with Pbass75. I had the same question a couple of weeks ago. I could not find a 25-pin scsi terminator. But there is a switch on the back to set termination to 'on' and you are set to go.

    SR-16 drum machine

Thanks, GT. I got my SR-16 last night, tried it out, and it is so much better than the keyboard drum sound I was using, I do not regret my purchase. I paid $199.00 new, and while it may not compare with higher priced, more up-to-date models, it is going to improve my projects a lot! Thanks to...

    zip drive interference

Hey, Top Jimmy, Thanks for the welcome. I was beginning to think I was the only one who bought one of these when nobody I talked to around here had even heard of it. Had trouble finding the drive, too. It's good to see a strong Cheesehead Contingent in the home recording forum!

    FD-4, is it tough enough?

I have had my FD-4 for a few days now, and I am concerned that the knobs, switches, and jacks don't seem very durable (I know, I know, it's an inexpensive machine!). I am especially nervous about plugging mics into the xlr jacks, as I feel like they will break off and get jammed into the case...

    SR-16 drum machine

Thanks for the input. I should have found this site sooner. I managed to get my Alesis for $199.00. Hopefully it will at least sound better than my keyboard drum sound (mid-80's technics). Next time I will ask first and buy smart!

    SR-16 drum machine

Has anyone tried out the Alesis SR-16 drum machine? It seemed like a good option for an affordable and programmable unit. How is the sound? I already ordered one, but it would be nice to know what to expect. Thanks.

    zip drive interference

Yes. Would they pick that up? It's only when the disk actually starts running that it happens. Of course I do get some hum off the coils all the time. Actually, I think it's going to be okay. Last night I just moved the zip drive down another shelf, as far as the cable will reach, and I...

    zip drive interference

Aside from the fact that my zip 250 is very noisy when I record on my fd-4, it also seems to add electronic interference when I am using the 1/4 inch jacks to record guitar. every time I start to record and the disk is accessed, there's a squealing sound. It's okay when I use the xlr mic...

    another 250 zip...

I had to drive two hours to get to a place that carried SCSI zip drives, rather than just parallel or USB. Mac was the only kind they had. The box for my zip drive says you would need an adapter to use it with a pc, so I imagine you would need some kind of adapter to use a pc zip with your...
