    Worst Singer EVER

Ani deFranco is also insufferable. Billy Corgan doesn't bother me much. His voice reflects the name of his band... a manifestation of pubescent angst. Nasal. Winey. I would never buy his albums, but I always appreciate truth in advertising.

    Worst Singer EVER

Haven't posted in a while, but had to add to this thread. That girl who sang for 4-Non-Blondes. Like nails on a chalk-board. I have seen interviews with some of the younger female pop performers and some of them worship her. She contributed heavily to some stuff Pink was working on. Blows...

    Famous, "stolen" songs???

The guitar riff in Jesus Christ Pose by Soundgarden is a direct ripoff of "Heaven on Their Minds" from the musical Jesus Chris Superstar. Both songs are awesome though.

    Confidence in your own stuff...

I can't play "Hotel California", but--much like "The Dude"-- I really hate the Eagles, man.

    Confidence in your own stuff...

Hi. Yes. I do have this problem, but in a slightly different way at times. I think everyone feels like their artistic expression is substandard. I have always thought that's how we continue to learn and get better. The problem comes when you know something is broken, but you don't know...

    how do you usually write.

I keep a notebook of interesting concepts and possible lines. Later, when I have written music, I will either write fresh lyrics, or go back to the notebook and see what gems I have lying around.

an experiment: no chorus, no hook, still catchy?

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with everyone. I wish there was a nice way to say this. I really didn't like it. In fact, I had to force myself to listen to the whole thing. There are some great songs out there with repetative melodies. However, they generally compensate for that by...

    I Smell A Lawsuit Comin'..............

Ummm... no. Even if this was on the radio and you had millions of fans, it is not the makings of a lawsuit. Alice In Chains sold millions upon millions of albums with Layne Staley singing: I Want To Taste Dirty, A Stinging Pistol In My Mouth, On My Tongue I Want You To Scrape Me From The...

    Under-rated Lyricists

I love "Invitation to the Blues"!!!! :) I can play Tom on the piano (well, sorta), but no matter how I try, I can't sing him. I have a deep female voice and I can get the key easy, but it all sounds very monotonous when I try to sing it. However, I can match Chris Cornell note for note. :D

Koroshiya... Never heard of Dog Door, but I will check it out as soon as I can get the p2p downloaded. Their website is having problems.

Barthoque... That sounds really cool. I've never heard of him before. His lyrics remind me of Tom Waits. Also have to include Tom Waits in this list. If you aren't familiar with him, he is a God if you are into lyricism. I highly recommend him to anyone. "Burma Shave" "Blue Valentines"...

    Under-rated Lyricists

Koroshiya... Are there still p2p programs out there? I gave up on Limewire years ago. I could use some new music. I recently paid $18 to replace my copy of "Hail to the Thief" (Radiohead) at Strawberry's. That's just to god damned much to pay for a cd. Oh Yeah! Thom York... Radiohead...

    Under-rated Lyricists

Ms. Hilarious... I have been banned from 2 Chris Cornell forums for saying that Euphoria Morning was god-awful and that Audioslave is listenable, but equally forgetable. People who got into Cornell post-Soundgarden are some of the most annoying fans you'll ever meet. They resent anything...

Shannon Hoon-- Unfortunately, I was one of the people turned off by the bumble-bee girl thing. I'll have to explore some Blind Mellon.

    Under-rated Lyricists

I totally agree about Layne. It's hard for me to listen to anything by AIC since his death. I knew back then that the lyrics were autobiographical, but listening to them now and knowing how it all ended... even thinking about it... it's haunting. I now have their entire collection and the...

    Under-rated Lyricists

I agree, placenta does not belong in a song... lol... which is why I have never purchased anything by Live. Also, I hate it when men write from a female perspective... it really pisses me off. I don't write about the pain of having testicles and I don't want to hear some guy singing like he...

    Question... what would happen?

Wheelema... I can appreciate what you are saying about not stating clearly their objectives... however, I really don't know what my objectives are. I'm getting a little old to be a rock star. Still, I have the drive to create. I don't have a large budget (though I could easily swing 350)...

    Portastudio to Computer Transfers????

I have a mac laptop and and a pc. I can't burn with the mac, but I have a usb drive that I can use to transfer from the mac to the pc. What program would I use on my mac?

    Question... what would happen?

Thank you very much for explaining that... though I'm not sure what the point of buying a condenser mic to improve quality is if I were to buy the lowest quality available. The pre-amp thing I get entirely... and I had many problems with this issue in my earlier attempts at recording. I guess...
