    I just got an sm-57 .........

Preamp? I don't use Windows sound recorder but it seems to me it is 8-bit mono. This isn't good enough. You should get an audio interface (you can get one cheap that will give you 16-bit at 44.1 kHz). Most have a built in preamp of some sort, not the best, but acceptable and would be a...

    I just got an sm-57 .........

You didn't say what kind of physical audio interface you are using? Others have suggested a preamp to get your music on the computer. A preamp is great for tweaking your sound but won't get it on the computer unless it doubles as an interface of some sort. I use an sm-57 alot with an xlr to...

    UA-30 USB Audio Interface

I use the UA-30 usb audio interface and I like it. I wouldn't recommend using it without a preamp, however. as clipping will be a problem when recording guitars, i.e. I use a Joemeek VC3Q. I would also recommend using a Pod or similar unit rather than miking an amp.

    FREE PROTOOLS VERSION !!!

Pro Tools Free I'd love to try the PT Free version or any PT version for that matter, but I foolishly bought an over the counter pc with an AMD K-6 and ESS Solo soundcard, both of which are not compatible with Pro Tools, then learned about digital recording! Since I don't have PT, I make due...

    help on chosing software

Hi: I'm a Cakewalk user of several months still trying to learn how to use it. I just started using Cool Edit Pro ( a scaled down version that came bundled with my audio interface). I really like it. It is very user friendly and more of a cake walk than Cakewalk. I'm thinking of getting the...

CD Burner copies individual song tracks as songs

stereo wav files Dachay: I recorded my tracks in stereo and exported them to the burner software as wave file. I accomplished what I wanted to do by mixing down the audio to a single track. It sounded bad, however, and I had to go back and edit the individual tracks before mixing down again...

CD Burner copies individual song tracks as songs

I'm trying to burn a two track guitar piece on my CD burner using CeQuadrat Just Burn software. The software recognizes my two individual tracks as separate files instead of one file. I'm using Home Studio 9. How do I get the software to recognize the individual tracks as part of one tune, or...

Newbie with questions about Cakewalk and MIDI

USB midi interface Check out the USB interfaces from Roland via Edirol.com. If you are interested, make sure your USB port is compatible as Universal Serial Port is far from universal. I believe all of the Roland USB products require USB connector which conforms to USB specification Version...

    Cakewalk vs. Cubasis

Cakewalk vs Cubasis I've got Cakewalk Home Studio 9. I hate it. The on screen controls are hard to use, compared to Freestyle which I used on my old PC. I've had to convert all of my midi files to WAV files to burn cd's and there is a lot of resulting distortion in this conversion. In all...
