    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Hi Dave, you said -20dbfs but I'm not sure I understand what that is referring to. From my understanding that would be 20dB lower than the clipping point of my system right? Now I'm not sure what I'm meant to do with that 😅. In any case here is a quick recording of me singing and another one of...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Hey, so I received my mic and interface. Plugged it all in, downloaded "focusrite control" and the drivers from focusrite. I installed reaper and cakewalk to try out both. Inside the daw I set the audio system to ASIO and the ASIO driver to Focusrite USB ASIO (following a tutorial I saw on ytb)...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

I have a pretty good PC (at least in gaming standards). A ryzen 5 5800x3d, an rtx2070 and 32gb ram. So I had assumed that I wouldn't need worry about that. I'll make sure to come back once I have the equipment in hand so I don't make any mistakes when getting drivers and DAW

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

I now ordered the 2i2 and the at2020, should both arrive next week. And then I'll make sure to try out a few DAWs to see what might work best for me. Thanks again, I don't think I would've been able to get myself started with all of this without all these explanations. Can't wait to start...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Hey, thank you for clarifying certains points there Dave. Especially about the latency, I'll make sure to keep that in mind as I try out cakewalk.

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

My only concern left is whether the 2i2 3rd gen is good enough coz I see conflicting reviews online. Especially regarding the latency, some seem to have complaints about that. Some say to use Asio, others to avoid it. Now since I'm a complete noob here I don't know how much of those complaints I...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Yeah exactly, I feel like I wanna just start out with simple equipment now and once I've improved enough at producing, singing and playing, to know what I need/want I'll go for upgrades that I know will help me.

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Thanks for the advice on the DAW, I'll make sure to keep that in mind as I get started. And the review is also very helpful, I think imma go for the 2020 yeah

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Hey again guys, so after thinking about it my budget went up a little and my plan changed. Please tell me if this makes sense(reminder I'm a beginner with a keyboard and I wanna sing and record, ideally for a couple of years before needing an upgrade): AT2020GM (because it's apparently the best...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

oh mb for not answering the question before, I just had so much going through my brain. I actually haven't chosen a DAW yet. I played the piano and sang for a little bit already but i'm just now starting with the production side of things so I pretty much don't know anything. I thought audio...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

hey thanks for the links, could you explain the price difference please? Coz I see that both have two (or four?) inputs which is great at 50 euros, but I can't afford the 111 euros one. The first one has mic and inst, and the other one has also 2 line inputs. So could I plug in four things on...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Thank you so much guys😁, it's crazy how much better I understand it now. I think imma do it like TalismanRich said. Record the piano first and then the vocals. I definitely don't have the skills to do both simultaneously anyway. So now I just gotta buy my mic and audio interface. Is there an...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

You spoke of having an input for the keyboard on the interface, but what kind of input would that have to be? Assuming I'm fine with mono, could I use the USB cable for that?

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Hey so I wanna start recording myself singing and playing the piano(digital). I looked at many videos but I'm still a little confused.Ideally I also want to hear the sounds live through my headset while I'm recording (so that the piano's sound doesn't go through my mic i.e. the piano's speakers...
