Since Mr. Hyatt is here, I have to ask a question. and I hope he's man enough to answer.
how does it feel to sellout your own country Mr Hyatt?
business owners like you who :
take advantage of slave labor in china,
do business with a country who slaughtered students in Tiananmen Square, could...
there are no stupid questions. but there are stupid answers :)
here's what I like to use for speaker cable

wow, you need more power than what a HRD gives? man, your drummer must be a monster :)
If you play with a band, then the real twin is the way. I would also upgrade the speakers with a couple of webers (california + texas would be my pick) personally i would go for the twin reverb reissue. but i...
what I've read on many forums is that the safesound P1 has been recommended by many poeple. of course the safesound doesn't look as cool, but I heard it sounds pristine.
also, its hard to beat an FMR RNP and RNC combo in a Funk Logic rack.
what I've gathered from the 87 forums I visit everyday, the best pre's in that price range are:
RNP
Grace 101
GT Brick
seventh circle (you can build the pre's yourself and save alot)
I would just get a JJ tube. a NOS tube will go to waste in a strved plate design. you will be wasting your money. but if it makes you feel better to put a "holy grail" tube in there. then get a "used but tested" RCA grey plate. you can find them all over the internet and on fleabay. they go for...
IMHO the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 is a great/inexpensive upgrade from the creative card. but the Studio Projects VTB-1 is a colored pre. to hook up a colored mic + colored pre would sound like caca. IMO of course.
I would get the mxl 67g with the m audio dmp3 as recommended in an earlier post...
what I would like to hear is, accumilated 24 tracks of the chinese crap vs accumilated 24 tracks of the avalon.
I think you would hear a hell of a difference there.
your right i don't think anyone makes all that in one item.
dont feel bad. we all have to make compromises.
I'm still looking for a girl who likes to watch boxing, leaves me alone so I can record, likes my bad cooking, doesn't make me go see her parents, and looks like kate moss. 'tsnot...
I had the vamp-2 and only messed around a couple of times with the pod.
I think the pod is a step up, but not "enough" for the trouble.
IMHO, if I were to upgrade, I would just go for the podxt. that would be a major improvement.
what are your specs? windows or mac? if windows, pent 3 or 4, how many ghz, how much ram, sepearte hard drives? win 98 or xp? do you get the problem only with mp3 playback or studio recordings?
I have a PC with US-122. and I've never had a problem. but I do have 2 seperate hardware profiles...
I would like to get an old Meek AND a Tfpro P4. Is there a difference, sound wise? i.e. is there a new design in the tfpro?
or are they pretty much the same and would be redundant to have both?
also, which is considered the best old meeks. I'm looking for a V3CQ. are there "better" ones...
thanks for the info :)
BTW I don't know why gear makers just don't do away with this -10 stuff and just adopt the +4 standard. maybe I'm missing something. is it that much more expensive to manufacture +4 gear. it has to be only a few more dollars.
anyway, happy holidays to everybody.
:D
I always got confused with this stuff.
1- if I have a mic pre that has a balanced output signal and i go into my crappy soundcard that has unbalanced inputs. will that be "bad" or would it not matter?
2- are balanced TRS outputs always +4 ? are unbalanced TS outputs always -10 ?
thanks
I have a bunch of NOS tubes. of all of them, the "holy grail" is the mullard CV4004. their nicknamed "boxplates" due to their unique box plate design. duh. :)
I dont have telefunkens or amperex's, they would be great too. but you have to be careful there are alot of relabled tele's and amps...
I found a something on the UK sennheiser site that mentions the E906
this is from the website:
-----------------------------------------
The super-cardioid e906 is designed specially for guitar amps but is also excellent for percussion and brass instruments. The flat-profile mic has a lively...
COOL!!!
although I just got a MK-319 via ebay. I'd like to get (surprise) a pair of 012's.
I just hope the price isn't too high due to demand for these babies. :p
