hi,
i thought that it was standard to export audio to wav before burning to a cd? problem is that the files wont play on some cd players? what format should i be using. I am using sonar 2.2 and Nero to burn. Also after exprting to wave the track properties say that it is a PCM format?
please...
thanks again,
ive had a look on the site about 'dithering' but im finding it confusing.
i have cakewalk sonar 2.2 and i havent seenanything about dithering on the software, it just converts to 16 bit. is dithering a seperate process? anbd also, will i only need to dither if i mix 24bit tracks...
thanks paul,
also, does that mean that if i were recording more tracks on the same song, i couldnt record them at 24bit? what problems could that cause?
cheers,
C.
cheers mate,
mine was set to 16 bit. ive already recorded songs at 16bit, im guessing that it will not be as simple as changing it to 24bit? re-record to get that quality?
cheers,
C.
please help,
i also have a M-audio omni and behringer truths.
what should i be having my sound card set at for playback, because you cant hear any of the distortion unless its on home speakers. Shouldnt i be able to hear it on my monitors?
im plugging it into the M-audio omni i/o, i also have behringer truths
i had a look through the manual but i dont understand it?
What should i have my sound card set at for playback-
+4db
Consumer
-10db
??
hi,
Im a newbie and im wondering what my soundcard settings should be?
currently they are
Output- +4dbu
In1 - +4
In2 - +4
Latency- 384 samples
sample rate- 44,100
Is this bad? I got the soundcard off a mate without the instructions
cheers,
C.
maybe thats what it is, but im not sure what it is supposed to be set to?
this is what it says:
Output- +4dbu
In1 - +4
In2 - +4
Latency- 384 samples
sample rate- 44,100
Is this bad? I got the soundcard off a mate without the instructions
cheers,
C.
yup,
sonar 2.2 is what im using and its bloody frustrating. At first i just thought that i recorded with the mic too close to the sound hole, now after re-recording its still got the distortion? help
hey there,
what does it mean if you have recorded you song peaking around -4db, there is no clipping, but when played on an average home stereo you cant turn the song up too loud without it distorting? how can i fix it? do i need to turn all the individual tracks down(if so how far?)and then...
Hi,
Am i right in that when recording a guitar in stereo, it is bad to have the two mics recording to two individual tracks? Has anyone gotten distortion from doing this?
cheers,
so does that mean the wave on the screen. For instance if ive recorded something and the wave is getting louder than -6. is it fine to just highlight and tack 3dbs off the recording. or would it be better to re-record.why?
cheers again,
C.
what is tracking? if someone were to say keep the tracking level at -6db, does that mean the volume control or the actual level that the sound is hitting?
cheers,
C
what does it mean when your mixes only sound good when the stereo is at a low volume, and then it just distorts, where another cd will just get louder. not talking about balrring it out at a rediculous volume, just loud enough to filter through the house.
???
Cheers,
C.
cheers alex,
trouble is that on my monitors i dont hear much distortion either, but when played on some speakers the song is barely audible. My main concern is that if i sell a few of these demos at a gig, for some people it my not work on their systems. it really is impossible to listen to it...
hey,
put this in the mastering forum to get answers about the distortion and 'swirling'. So...how would you fix my problem, ideas?
plus what do you think of the song.
C.
