Wow thanks for the the explanation! The M-20X are much simpler indeed and only have two 4560 opamp's per channel. I'm going to install sockets and experiment a bit! I was not aware even of the difference between opamps, being JFET/bi-FET. But I just read about succesful swaps with the 5532's...

User "Beck" previously suggested to replace the cheap carbon resistors in the audio path with metal film. But I think I'll leave them be. I had a quick look at the M-300 series, and can't seem to find any for sale at the moment near Belgium and more importantly, it seems like even the 8 channel...

aaah let's resurrect this thread once again.. :) If anybody in the meanwhile got their hands on the list of the specific resistors in the audio path that need to be replaced, let me know! I'm planning to give my M-208 some much needed TLC & modifications soon. I'm planning to have it...
