Is there a way to load a track off of PC to MR-8

Also the .wav file has to be a mono 44.100 Hz 16 bit file, named tr01 or tr02, or whatever track you want.

    Question about ECM8000

I've used it for acoustic guitar, mono drum overhead, and as an ambient/room mic. For the extremely low price, I think it is a heck of a deal.

adding comp and reverb in computer

The preamps on the mr8 are not very good and you usually have to crank the trim to get a good level. You could buy a preamp or a small mixer for very cheap that will improve your recordings a good deal.

MR8 - background hissing with external mic

What kind of preamp and mic is it? How are the gain settings? Are there noisy things going on in your room, because a condenser mic is extremely sensitive and will pick up the tiniest sound in a room. Using the crappiest dynamic mic straight into the mr8 should be better than using the built-in...

    MD421: Strange Behavior

Someone else was having a similar problem not too long ago, and it had a very simple solution: the md421 is not a side-address mic, although it looks like one. This may not be the problem in your case, and if I insulted your intelligence, I apologize.

    I just got a MR8!! need help!

When I first got my mister 8, I was pretty much a complete newbie to recording, and was prepared to spend a solid two weeks reading the manual and trying it out. Did it work out like that? Not at all; I had pretty much mastered all the basic functions in a few days...all you need to do is play...

    Recommendations: Dynamic Omni

I love my EV 635a personally, and use it mainly to mic up electric guitars, especially distorted. I got my 635a for 30 bucks off ebay, so even if you don't like it, you aren't out too much. Plus the thing is built like a damn tank. There are some other choices out there though. You could look...

Recording Rock guitar with Fostex Mr-8

The preamp is a huge part of the audio chain. What do you think powers the microphone? The built-in preamps in the mr8 are not very strong as dave said. The little behringer ub series mixers have built-in preamps, and they are what I use. A lot of people are against behringer gear in general...

    miking voice with fostex

A good mic is a good mic, whether it is dynamic, condenser, ribbon, etc. The sm57 and 58 are good dynamic mics and seems to be a workhorse mic everyone has. IMHO though, the best starter budget mic out there is the SP B1 for around 80 bucks. It is good on acoustic, guitar cabs, vox, whatever...

A little off topic about CDRs

I mostly use memorex as well. It is also important to consider the burn speed while you are burning. It's best to burn your music at about 4x, or 8x max to ensure the best quality data transfer.

    ev635a new user

Hey, thanks for the info. Vocal-wise, I just spoke into it to get a general idea, and I liked what I heard. I guess my voice might be in the high baritone range. Speaking of percussion, I plan to try it on snare pretty soon as well. If the mic was good enough for elvis, it's certainly good...

I just got mine in the mail yesterday and got to play around with it a bit today. I only paid 30 with shipping so I couldn't pass it up. I like it a lot so far, especially on fuzzy/distorted guitar. Also, it's neat to point out the mic on TV during an interview or something...I catch one...

    MR-8 and File Backup Question

You could convert the wav's to mp3's and send them (direct connect through aim works well if you both have a good connection) and your buddy could convert the mp3 back to a wav, with a free program you could find on download.com. I do this with my buddy sometime and it works okay.
