    Arggg!! HELP! CDR TROUBLE!

1.) No real reason to plug in the audio cable between CD-R drive and soundcard. 2.) Should work, a little dodgey in some places, but should still work. Version 3.5C is a bit better overall. 3.) Well, 1x should have done it if everything was working fine -- even 2x. Are both units IDE??? If...

How can i get my tele to stop buzzing like mad

A shure-fire way to eliminate huuummmmmmm and buzzzZZzzzzZz in a Tele is to go to the new-fangled Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups, which are actually mini-stacked humbuckers that look and sound very close to standard single coils in the Tele. As Emeric sez above, a thorough rewiring and...

You can install up to F-O-U-R LynxONE soundcards in a system. "Speaking of other computer cards, if more analog or digital I/O channels are required, up to four LynxONE's can be connected to provide a phase-locked multi-track system!" Details: http://www.lynxstudio.com/brochure.html <UL...

    I'm buying a CD burner....

IDE vs. SCSI CD-R: -------------------- SCSI CD-R drives always work well, even on slow computer systems becasue of SCSI's superior performance capabilities in a multi-tasking environment. IDE CD-R drives work best on "fast" systems. To achieve the highest level of success with IDE CD-R...

Well, there's certainly a number of books on the basics of Pro Audio -- and it doesn't have to be "digital audio."

    Dual Processing

An i440BX can also support dual processors. An i440GX mobo costs about US$75 to US$100 more than a i440BX mobo but only gives you compatibility with 512MB DIMMs. If you have a reason to be using Xeon processors, then you have no choice but to use a GX mobo. So, for the vast majority of us...

    Whats your guitar/amp setup?

Not exactly cheap, but... I use a Demeter Silent Speaker Chamber and Marshall SuperLead Plexi 100 (running at 50 watts via 2 EL-34s) with a Marshall Power Brake in between. Shure SM-57 inside the Demeter miking an Emenence 12-inch loudspeaker.

    * I don't know what software application(s) you plan to run on your new box, but Windows 2000 would actually be the ideal way to go over Win95/98 or WinNT4, unless your applications do not support NT4 or Windows 2000. * The dual-monitor capability is a very nice feature, but the Matrox is ALSO...

    UDMA or Ultra Wide SCSI

"Modern" IDE (UDMA ATA) will work fine for audio. SCSI, as in Ultra2 or Ultra-160, or even WideUltra is MORE than adequate for DAW applications -- in fact, it's still the preferred storage interface for the upper midrange to high-end of DAW. Speed is your friend when it comes to working with...
