    Ludwig Accent vs Yamaha Rydeen

I own a set of Rydeens. If you watch, you might see some in the clearance section in about a week because I think I will return mine to Musician's Friend. They shipped me a mismatched kit in two different colors. As for the drums... Nice. Good heavy hardware. Solid. I am not in love with the...

    typical "country music-twang?"

They went out of business, but if you can find a Route 101 tele copy somewhere it's an awfully good guitar for a very good price. The Solimar strat copy of theirs can make pretty good country tone also.

Travel sized drumkit / 16" bass drum.

I'm thinking of buying those Gretsch drums also. I only need them for recording minimalistic country and americana tracks in a studio. They won't leave the studio. Think they would be OK for that purpose? Are smaller kits like this better for recording purposes? Seems like maybe they might be...

Where are Yamaha Rydeen drums manufactured?

I'll answer my own question. Indonesia! Totally sweet. And Musician's Friend shipped 3/5 of the kit in the WRONG COLOR! So I now have a kit that has 3 wine red drums and 2 brown ash drums. I'm thinking of shipping them back and getting the Gretsch Catalina's instead. Anyone ever used those...

Where are Yamaha Rydeen drums manufactured?

Does anyone know if these are made in the Japanese factory or if they are imported from someplace else? Any experiences with these drums? Would they be OK for recording? Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

    Professionally mastered home recordings...

I don't have a great understanding of how it all works, but is it even reasonable to expect that professional mastering can drastically improve the final quality of something recorded in a home studio? Garbage in garbage out I would think. This stands to reason. But if you have reasonably...

    Recommendations for monitors?

I just picked up a set of active M-Audio BX-8 monitors and so far I am very impressed. I can't imagine doing better for the price. I got these from Musician's Friend on clearance for 239.00 with free shipping. The only problem is that they are much larger than what I really needed. They take up...

Yamaha DD-55? Is it worth it?

You can hear bad examples of the DD55 at the link below. Bossa Nova Jehovah is the most recent thing I have done with the DD55. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/mikejakballamusic.htm

Yamaha DD-55 or the Alesis SR16?

If you listen to Bossa Nova Jehovah at the following link you can hear a bad example of the DD 55 at work.... http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/mikejakballamusic.htm

Yamaha DD-55 or the Alesis SR16?

I'm sure the Roland is better, but it's also 4 times as expensive.... "Black Jak, just wondering if you can tell me something about the Yamaha d55. I know it accepts two pedals, for bass and hi-hat, which makes for a full-kit feel, right?" That is correct. It's a full kit in terms of...

Yamaha DD-55 or the Alesis SR16?

I've had all three. In my personal opinion, the best of the lot by a LONG shot is the Yamaha DD55. You can actually play the damn thing. I'm not at all good at it and I would LOVE to have a regular drummer instead, but with a little work you can make the DD55 sound very realistic. They are very...

Does Fender make a tube amp in America anymore?

I would consider a vintage one. I don't have a problem with that at all. As a matter of fact, I am kicking myself because I left an old Fender Champ in the garage of my last house when I moved out. Damn it! Anyway, I think I want a low wattage all tump amp for recording purposes. It's either...

Does Fender make a tube amp in America anymore?

I don't doubt that at all. I don't really have a problem with it being made in Mexico, but for future resale purposes I would prefer American made. Not to mention I like the idea of supporting American workers when I can. Mind sharing where you found that information? I'd like to be able to...

Does Fender make a tube amp in America anymore?

Which models are still made in the USA? Is the Hot Rod Deluxe? I understand some Blues Junior amps are made in the USA, and others are from Mexico. They do not mention on their web page where each mic model is manufactured. I was hoping to find it in the specs, but no luck! I know there...

Marshall AVT-20 -vs- Blues Cube 60

Thanks for the reply. I'm leaning towards the blues cube 60. I haven't heard a single bad thing about it so I'll probably go ahead and pick it up this weekend. Would you mind sharing with me how you mic it for best results in the studio? What do you use, how do you place it, etc? I'm new to...
