Excactly. You can use gates and stuff if you please. Expieriementing with placement is a fun part of recording. I've tried drumagog and it is actually pretty fun to mess around with, but it feels like "auto tune for drums" sorta. What's really neat is getting sounds that are totally different .

I've used em on snare with limited sucess. I think maybe it has more gain than a real sm57?? On amps if its clean they sound fine, but distorted they end up sounding worse. I mainly pull one out if there is no other mic available and someone needs to do a guide vocal or something. They are a...

Ick, everytime I've recorded someone who wants to do drums last I kinda cringe. The drums don't "breathe" in the song usually... I've only heard a few people do it and have it sound alright.

e609 works for my havy big muff sounding stuff. I like the e609 condensor combo aswell the condensor could be anything from an AT 4033, Pro37 or whatever. I like using my 57 on clean guitars more though. But to each his own.

I've used the C1 for vocals and it works really well. Everyone who I've recorded using it loves how clear their voice sounds. I've also used it as a room mic on drums with exceptional results.

Maybe itll hep if i tell what kinda kit I use. Tama Rockstar. Aquarian Superkick II. Aquarian Poswehouse snare. And Aquarian performance II tom heads and all Zildjian A Cusom cymbals. I just don't feel my toms are sounding as good as they could.

I'd LOVE to get 2 Sennheisher 421's but i don't think i can afford it since i'm upgrading ALL my drum mics. when i saw 200 i mean each not combined.... i like my toms to sound real low... i record grungy/punk/rock music. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated thank you very much
