Couldn't be more pleased.
I'll tell ya, couldn't be happier with my new ADA8000 A/D D/A preamps. They sound at least as good as the pre's in my AW4416. Of course, they are no match for my Presonus unit, but who's complaining. I got 16 decent sounding inputs with ADAT optical in's & out's for...
That's what I thought. You can't use just any optical cable for an ADAT connection. Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, etc. are not likely to carry them.
So, anyone know of a good source (web retailer) for them?
Go Taylor
Get the 310 series. My favoites are the 714 and 814 series, but they're out of your price range. If you were to turn off the lights and listen all three, you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart. The 310 has a beautiful tone that is well suited for recording.
Another brand you...
Couldn't wait...
I bought two.
After doing a little searching, I have been able to find posts on other boards about the ADA8000. All very complementary, so I took the plunge. They arrived today. $199 each with shipping! At that price I don't have a lot to loose.
Haven't had time to use...
I don't know much about the Tascam model, but I believe that in addition to being a control surface, it is also an audio interface with an assortment of analog and digital ins and outs.
The Mackie is, of course, midi only.
Paj,
I specifically want to be able to go right into the ADAT lightpipe inputs on my MOTU 2408 and also on my Yamaha AW4416 portable rig. The Behringer unit will do that.
That being said, I am currently drooling over the Focusrite Octopre. Talk about a nice piece of gear. 8 class A pre's...
Cool thread!
I've been looking at resonators for a little while with the intention of buying one soon. Got a couple of questions, though:
What are the advantages of the two neck styles (square vs round)?
What are the most common (useful) tunings?
I assume that the square neck design would...
Thanks for the input about inputs! ;)
I haven't read any reviews on that Behringer unit yet. Think I'll wait until one of the magazines has had their way with it.
I've got some nice pre's now (BSS & Focusrite), so I'm not in a hurry. The Behringer interested me from the standpoint of putting...
Never owned any Behringer gear, but people seem to have a bad opinion of it. A year or so ago I read an article about the (then) new digital console they had recently introduced. The price was very low for the fearure set offered and the reviewer gave it high marks.
Now, Behringer is...
I get them all.
I used to like Recording, but these days EQ is printing more of the things I find interesting. Recording's "Reader's Tapes" used to be interesting, especially with the CD that you used to be able to get with the tunes on them.
Not a "Home" recording magazine, I know, but my...
ATI
I had an ATI card that had the TV out feature. Ended up giving it to my son when I upgraded to a Matrox Dual Head card.
I don't remember which ATI card it was, but I'm sure that you can get info about it from their web site.
HVAC
I've been thinking about the HVAC system for my design. I guess there are special considerations for a noiseless system. I've heard the terms "high volume, low velocity" used to describe a good system for a studio, but how do you achieve it? Big ducts with lots of baffles? What are you...
