Some thoughts on RHCP "By the Way."

it's too good I think by the way is one of the best albums i've heard in a long long time. I like the fact that they're doing something different. You think after doing funk shit for so long that they don't want to expand their musical horizons? If people want funk listen to the old records...

would getting more RAM for my computer allow me to use more effects when playing audio in Cakewalk PA 9?

    maya 44

I've been reading about the Audiotrak Maya 44, and it seems like just the card I need to start out on multitrack recording. I'm on a tight budget, and the price seems right for a 4 in/4 out card (I don't really mind that it doesn't record at a 24-bit rate). However, I couldn't find any reviews...

Mixing down from digital to analogue

Hey I'm kind of new to recording, but I found an old tascam two track reel to reel in my neighbors trash. Anyway i've been recording on my computer for a little while but obviously the sound isn't exactly warm like a vacation in mexico, it's more like a trip to the antarctic. I was wondering...

    Mixing down to a computer

Heres my hypothetical situation: a computer feeds tracks into an analogue mixer(i enjoy analogue mixing much more, one mouse just wont cut it), I send the output of the mixer back into the computer and record as a finished stereo track. Would that be a wise practice, or would it be wiser to...

    Mackies sterile.

I've heard much over the fact that people think mackies are too cold and harsh. Should mackies be avoided altogether, or do they have any redeeming qualities at all? What if you had to use alot of mic's like for recording drums, could you just place a good stereo tube preamp between the output...

    Internet Collaboration

Browse the internet and look for a .wav to mp3 converter. Then when you send it to your friend he can convert the mp3 to a .wav file and work on it. Mp3's are alot smaller. But make sure to convert always above 192kbps, anything below that rate will have a poorer sound quality.

    Gadgetlabs Wave 424

Does anyone own this card and would like to give a review? I just got cakewalk pro audio 9 and I want to know if this card and cakewalk will interact well.

    Mixing with pro audio 9

Is mixing with pro audio 9 efficient? Can the problem of only having one pointer be sidestepped by using subgroups or whatever? Can different mixer settings be saved and programed to take effect in different parts of a song? Example: you have one part of a song where the faders and settings...

Do any of you have the D-16 or heard anything about it? Or should I forget about it and go for the computer recording setup?

Starting studio, do you have opinions?

I'm sorry I said the wrong thing. My computer belongs to the entire family. I would never be able to run a full blown recording program on it. I would just be able to import tracks, edit them, and send them back into the digital recorder.

Starting studio, do you have opinions?

I won't be able to use a soundcard if it's not hooked up to anything. I'd need a computer, i'd need the software, i'd need a small mixer, that's alot of $$$$$$$$$

Starting studio, do you have opinions?

You think if I could afford a pro tools system that I would buy a portable track machine? I wouldn't. But i've done the math. Even a basic computer setup, running like cakewalk or something would cost more. I'm just trying to get my money's worth. I'm 16 years old. I figure I could start...

Starting studio, do you have opinions?

I don't care! I'm gonna do what I want to do! No but seriously, tell me more of this HD recording setup, i'm all for ideas, I just thought that it wouldn't be too bad with the korg system i've heard good things about it.

Starting studio, do you have opinions?

Ha Ha! you must have confused me with somoene who has money. All that computer stuff will cost me 5000$+ and that's too much, not to mention computer crashes, software compatibility problems, all that shit. Plus you can't move a computer studio around. For less than 3000$ I'll get digital 16...

Starting studio, do you have opinions?

I'm starting a small home studio. I'm thinking of getting a Korg D-16 digital recorder and a Mackie 1202 VLZ mixer. I already have a good computer editor so I figure if I want more detailed track editing, I can record a track onto my computer and edit, then put it back into the D-16. And I'd...
