    Thanks for the explanation; good to know that it's an idiosyncrasy of these meters. I assume other VU meters can have a "better" response across the whole frequency spectrum?     Perfect, thanks for the tips, managed to figure it out and get them off! A side question—is it safe to use the mixer with out the head block in? Could it damage anything? I would love to make use of the mixer into my lap tops sound card whilst the heads are away! Many thanks,
