Recording a Grand Piano and a Vocalist

Next week I might record a due vocal/piano in real time. It's going to be a YouTube video, so I need to take the video shots into consideration as well. I have a pair of KM184 for the Piano which I've tried many times before, so I'm familiar with their sound. I also have an AKG414 that I've used...

This video includes 4 short Piano performances featuring the Ravenscroft 275 and Korg Module app. They're both quiet good for a mobile app.

Making a DIY Dust cover for Studio Monitors...

In case if you'd like to make some DIY dust covers for your Speakers or Studio monitors, here's a walkthrough video to do just that. My 90 years old friend actually helped me make the covers. He's the one who did the sewing and stuff. I documented and edited the footage pretty much. He made a...

DSI's latest Hybrid Instrument - Prophet X 8Dio product demo

In brief, this is a product demo event that I recorded at Vintage King Audio. Gerry Bassermann (Dave Smith Instruments Product Specialist) gives an in-depth insight into DSI's ground breaking Prophet X. Out of ALL DSI Synths, this is the first time that I find a synth fully useful for my own...

A Soyuz Microphones Event Featuring David A. Brown & Butch Walker

This is basically a Q & A SOYUZ Microphones events at the Westlake Pro studios in Los Angeles. I always thought Soyuz was an all Russian company but apparently David Brown (an American musician) is the co-founder. This event featured David and GRAMMY-nominated Record Producer 'Butch Walker'.

Demoing Korg Module App | Korg Sound Module (Acoustic Pianos

Just bought my first "Piano App" ever! I was never drawn to them before. I'm still not going to use them in a serious recording but I can see how useful they can be for practice, rehearsals, or even some live performances. Korg Module App: Korg Module App | KApro Orchestral Dreams...

Demoing 5 Vintage EP Sample Libraries

These 5 vintage EP libraries are featured in this YouTube video: Spectrasonics Keyscape, Native Instruments Scarbee Mark I, IK Multimedia Syntronik, e-Instruments Session keys and Neo-Soul Keys Studio. Syntronik is not an EP exclusive library of course, but it does have some nice vintage keys...

Improvising with NI & Spectrasonics Keyscape Acoustic Pianos

This is not a comparison video. I'm just using the M-Audio keystation 88 to play these libraries. I like NI but Keyscape has more debth and feels more like an acoustic piano. NI libraries are easier to play on a not so powerful computer.

Steve Stevens (Billy Idol Guitarist) featuring Friedman Amps & Pedals

This was basically a workshop for Friedman amps/pedals at the local Sam Ash in Hollywood. It was almost a 2 hours program which I cut and edited into a 45 min video. I forgot to format the memory card for my brand new 6D II camera and I lost all the killer shots I thought I took! So what...

    My DIY Vocal booth

A little backstory to this project... I work in the audio/music industry but I also have a lot of home music and post production projects. The level of sound coming into the house makes a recording session extremely unpredictable. A lot of birds, lawn mowers, housing projects and even crickets...

    Imsta festa (2018)

Just attended the IMSTA FESTA event this past weekend. It was a relatively small event of 30 plus pro-audio companies hosted by SAE Institute. Namm is great but I kind of like smaller events better in a sense that you get to talk to people and have a one on one conversation. In any case I was...

Making home made (DIY) Dust covers for keyboards/Synths

In brief my friend who knows about sewing helped me make a few real nice dust covers for my keyboards. I took some footage along the way and put together a how to YouTube video. If you're thinking about making your own covers, this video might help a bit. It costs less than $20 per cover...and...

    My NAMM 2018 experience....

I was there Thursday/Saturday. This year I tried not to fall in the same trap of spending half of my day in Korg, Yamaha...or another giant's booth. I choose the halls totally randomly and it worked out very well! I got to meet a lot of new faces that I would normally miss due to the reason...

    Behringer FCB1010 Walk-through / Video Manual

I'm not a Behringer product fan in particular but at this price range the FCB1010 got to be the best option there is. It's really a versatile midi foot controller. To be able to have all these presets and 12 parameters per preset? That's just great! ....The worse part is the learning curve. The...

Motu Midi Express Xt (Midi interface/Patchbay/Sync...)

I've had multiple midi patch bay units in the past. They were discontinued and their editors could no longer be installed on new computers. Just recently bought a Motu Midi Express XT. What I like about it is that it can be used as a standalone interface as well. With Clockworks software...
