Thanks for the insight. Searched everywhere in my room for it to no avail. It's the mystery! It might also be in the machine itself but no way am I going to take anything else apart to find it. I'll likely bring it to a tech as there are other things that need servicing as well. Cheers

Hey guys, My Tascam 244 was in need of an idler tire change and in the process of taking out the tape transport part the pinch roller fell off. Now I cant for the life of me find the pin that attaches the roller to the arm anywhere (gotta be in my room somewhere but who knows, its so small)...

I tried that process. Still not able to hear the panning i've done on my DAW running out of my tascam. Weird. Must be missing something super obvious here :(

I've already exported the tracks and they are mixed on my DAW (as per your helpful reply on my last thread) but my issue is I would like to put the tracks back on to the tascam from my computer in stereo. Is that possible?

Hey guys, So i've figured how to send the tracks from my tascam 244 computer to mix and to an extent, back to the tascam but is there a way I can do it in stereo rather than a mono mix? I have a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 so I am just plugging in a 1/4 inch cable to the first channel of my tascam...

Yea I feel like I am eventually going to need all four inputs for small band setups but for now, this will for sure do. I'm glad at least all channels can be recorded on. Regardless, the guy i bought it from offered to take it to a tech so I will wait for that as well. Thanks again guys...

Thank you for your help Nola! I hope to get that channel issue sorted soon. Right now, I'm only planning on doing bedroom stuff that require only 1-2 inputs at a time so i think i'm good for now. Is there any other situation where i'll be needing all four inputs??

For the time being! It seems that we narrowed it down to it being a 3/4 channel input issue. I'll have to get that sorted soon. Thank you!

Hey Findlay, I posted a picture above. Do the pan knobs need to be centred before hitting record or are they supposed to be panned L or R?

That worked! When I routed what I recorded on channel 1 to channel 3, there was normal signal on the 3rd channel VU. Does that mean there's some problems with the 3rd and 4th input?

This is how channel 3 looks while i'm recording on it. Is there anything obvious that i'm doing wrong and screwing myself over?

The levels almost sound like they are whispers. Very quiet and non existent :(

It's the same thing as when it's not flipped actually. Barely anything on the C1 and C2 meters.

ooooh I switched it to remix for playback and to safe for record function and now the C3 and C4 are working! Yet, I still get nothing from C3 and C4 when I record when the tape isn't flipped.

Got me some Type II High Bias tape and i'm still having troubles with 3/4 channel. I also did a good clean of the tape heads and others. Also, when I flip the tape over to listen to the good C1 and C2 recordings on the C3 and C4 play back channels, everything seems to work except the C3,C4 VU...

I honestly think/hope that it's the tape that im using that's causing this to happen.
