    Reaper and SMPTE incoming sync

You could track all of your sessions with Reaper, both midi and vocal! Sure, Reaper can chase, but seems like you might want a dedicated h/w sequencer for your studio. If you want to dedicate a computer and interface, surely Reaper will work. :thumbs up: Reaper will sync and chase SMTPE. I have...

maybe Cubase is falling behind?! In what areas? Reaper is free to try! full version!! latest regular upgrades/releases. Reaper / midi issues? dunno... Lots of upgrades in the midi area. I use reaper with midi all the time, with internal vsts and external midi synths. I guess we won't know...

...and the moral of the story is? But did you wait long enough for anybody to go out of business so they could give you the best looking curtains for free? I think you may have the wrong forum. Staff & manager? I'm not sure who that is. It's not me! I've got no time for such.. Perhaps the...

    Question concerning doubling lead vocal

Doubling / Thickening Interesting... I don't much talk about using different mics with different distances between source & mics. I'm also not seeing anything on detuning 2-5 cents and automation. My TC-Helicon uses detune among other things to fatten vocals. afterthought: Is see a lot of...

    Mastering Software

oh, my. Lead vocals seem to be the only thing happening (sort of). Other vocals way, way too loud (already stated)... band is muffled; not clear. Again, serious panning and mixing issues. Not ready for mastering. I'm just using bluetooth stereo speakers... not studio speakers, and issues...

Making a piano midi piece sound good

OP, your friend plays piano well? Can you find a weighted piano/keyboard/controller your friend can play to create a good unquantized midi file of the piece you want recorded? Anyway, there is a big difference between a musical piece and something quite repetitive. That is how I would...

Fixing very audible breathing in a soft acoustic track

Quoting the OP: I'm kind of at a loss what to do about it. I know the RIGHT thing is to just re-record the acoustic guitar on this Quoting you: the 'before' option is either not available or not practical Me: The "before" option is both "available" and "practical", unless I'm totally missing...

    That's IT!!! I've had it!!!

Bobby... I see you're getting there. I have 3 keyboards... and an Axon midi module as well as the JV1010. I series connect all my midi gear and pick out what I like, at least I used to years ago. The sound is good, but you have to control the mix/panning you're getting on each device. I have...

With the death of Sonar and Cakewalk, what are people moving to?

Reaper $60 w/manuals that stay current... I think moving to reaper is a no-brainer.

    Your experience before Reaper

VS-2480. I thought it sounded better, but getting music in and out of the box was such a pain!

Fixing very audible breathing in a soft acoustic track

Sure. But sometimes 'afterwards' is not an option, and all you have available is 're-do'. Running compressors too hot can cause problems, too. I can tell you this... I record my wife on guitar w/vocals using only one mic. My favorite is through a TC-Helicon Voicelive Rack w/no harmonies...

Fixing very audible breathing in a soft acoustic track

Do it right the first time... The mic for the job is NOT always your best studio mic. Sometimes you just don't want to pic everything up! Using a lesser mic, turning down sensitivity, tilting the head a smidge on puffs (p's), and having the singer sing a little louder will work wonders...

Making a piano midi piece sound good

Make it sound good! OP! Congrats on doing the first step. The next step would be to print out the music and have a real (not novice) piano player play it. You can also have it recorded at that time, or request a midi file, or both. The other route would be an audio file for somebody who...

    Which workstation?

yuppers.. I have a Casio WK-3700, and a Korg TritonLE, and a Roland FA-08. Each has "their sound", which isn't your primary focus? It's the sounds for me that help create the drive to make music. The sequencer in the Roland isn't that great (easy). The sampler is not a true sampler and you...
