What do you guys think of the pre-loaded Guitar Suite in Audition? (I don't mean the presets within the effect, necessarily, mostly just the effect itself.)
Are there other pre-loaded Audition effects you use for DI guitar tracks to get similar but perhaps better results?
(For reference, I'm...
That sounds like good advice to me. I'd also add that in the writing, if you're just playing fast and in a minor key, that's not enough to make it heavy. Songs tend to sound heavier when they break key and mix up tempos or subdivisions.
This stuff about the guitars reminds me of an ongoing...
Are you doing this because you need to put "Tenor" or "Baritone" on your resume or something and aren't sure which one to write? Or are you just curious which one you are?
Either way, I'd say just sing some tenor parts and then sing some baritone parts, and whichever feels more...
The video itself is pretty well done: a solidly performed and well-recorded cover, the video itself is shot and lit well. The editing's a little random, but I don't tend to notice that much.
My only criticism would be that it gets boring to just see the same few shots over and over again...
Interesting, good to know. Yeah, I've noticed I can often pick up little details with headphones that I miss through speakers. That's why I used to use headphones to edit VO back in my film industry years.
So would you say it's advisable to use headphones for editing (esp. vocals) and then use...
So far I've gotten some solid advice on this issue. I want to ask everyone now, more specifically, what all you'd say is okay to do with headphones. Tracking, obviously--it's basically required if you're doing anything involving a mic. But what about EQing, tweaking effects, etc.? Are monitors...
Good advice. I think borrowing gear from my friends is going to be my best option--don't know why I hadn't thought of it before (guess I just forgot).
A few points for clarity, though:
-My wife isn't skeptical or unsupportive of what I'm doing, we just both realize that my music recording isn't...
I can't just TELL you which direction it is. You have to do some experimenting on your own and see what direction works for you. Sorry, but there's no other way to do it. :D
Ok, fair enough. I must have misinterpreted your "blame" comment then.
So yeah, I'm basically on the same page as you. I recognize that some of the advice I've been given stands out in that it conflicts with most of the other advice and with other stuff I've learned about audio recording in...
Well obviously. But the point of giving directions isn't to ascertain whose fault it is, it's to help the poor guy get to Tecate!
So, if he's got no common sense, then you give him some basic pointers on common sense: "In the morning, keep the sun on your left," etc.
If he was given bad...
Trust me, I don't take anything that's said in online forums personally, ever. I get kind of baffled when people get emotional over technical questions, but I don't take it to heart--even when people childishly insult me. This is the internet, and we're all adults here (or mostly?).
I wasn't...
Blame? Nobody's accusing anyone. Maybe the guy's driving north because he has no common sense, maybe it's because he was given bad directions somewhere else, maybe it's because he never learned to read a map.
But if your goal is to help him get to Tecate, does any of that matter? Probably not...
I think of forums like these as asking for directions. You may know exactly where you want to go, or you may just have a general idea. The people giving directions know the area better and have been driving around there longer, and while they can't necessarily tell you exactly what turns to make...
Yeah, if you go back and read my OP, I said "I don't want to do any work and I expect you to provide me with the exact one-size-fits-all approach. I want steps to follow to get a particular sound. I don't plan to experiment on my own at all. And I already know everything."
