Whats a good affordable mic preamp?

Not sure what your budget is, but the lowest priced preamps I know of are the M-Audio Audio Buddy for about $80, the Studio Projects VTB-1 for about $180 (although the price was supposed to drop to about $130), the ART TPS for $180, the PreSonus Blue Tube for $160.

The MX802A works well with the Studio Projects B1.

    Looking for PA9

entangle, Yes, I agree that the policies of the software companies seem unreasonable. I did recently purchase an unregistered PA9 from someone that got it bundled with an Aardvark card. I was able to register it with Cakewalk. For me, it is a great program, and does everything I need it to.

Anyone successfully using Delta, VIA and PA9?

I stand corrected. Thanks for the link. Maybe I'll upgrade to Sonar first, then when I can afford to do the XP upgrade, I'll do that, too.

Anyone successfully using Delta, VIA and PA9?

I'm downloading the Sonar demo now. Oddly, Cakewalk's website doesn't list the system requirements for Sonar. Now I have to convince my wife that this is something I need.

Anyone successfully using Delta, VIA and PA9?

Do you know if Sonar will run under Win98SE with ASIO drivers?

Anyone successfully using Delta, VIA and PA9?

I was afraid of that. I guess I'll have to raise more money. Times are tough. Thanks for the advice.

Anyone successfully using Delta, VIA and PA9?

Do you know if the drivers under XP are better than those under Win98SE?

Anyone successfully using Delta, VIA and PA9?

I'm tired of giving money to Microsoft. A lot of my programs are older, and I'm not sure how many I would have to upgrade to use XP or 2000. Do you know if Pro Audio 9 will run under XP, and would it use better drivers?

Anyone successfully using Delta, VIA and PA9?

Yes, I've done both, and the Delta is on it's own IRQ. M-Audio is saying now that there is a problem with the Windows driver, but they apparently are not planning to do anything about it. The last driver they released for Win98 was about a year ago.

Anyone successfully using Delta, VIA and PA9?

I could use some help from all of you Cakewalk geniuses. I've spent the past few days searching the web for solutions to this problem, but none of the suggestions work. When using a Delta soundcard, I get a static/crackle on random takes. I can never tell when it will happen, and it is very...

B-1 is cheap is it really that good?

It's much easier to find a good inexpensive mic than it is to find a good inexpensive preamp. The mics that are being recommended are good choices.

    SP VTB1, price drop?

Check this thread. In it, Alan Hyatt of Studio Projects said it might go down to $129. I'm waiting, too. https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=77909&highlight=vtb1+price+drop

    Mic Cables

I can recommend ProCo Ameriquad. You can see them here. http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/love.music?p=p.PRCAQ10&z=1633249993413

B-1 is cheap is it really that good?

Also, the B1 is a very neutral sounding mic. It's a good vocal mic if your voice doesn't need to be flattered. There is some proximity effect when you get within 6 inches of the mic, which might be good for vocals or voiceovers. For my acoustic guitar (Takamine F-349), I find that it needs to...

B-1 is cheap is it really that good?

If you'd like to hear the B1, you can order (for free) a CD from the Studio Projects website that demos it with a few different preamps. It all male vocals, though.

    Looking for PA9

I'd definitely be interested in it. I'm not sure what a fair price would be. What would make you happy?

Just got my Studio Projects B1

Thanks for digging that up. I was looking for it to verify what I thought Alan Hyatt told me.

    Looking for PA9

So I guess I'm looking for a copy someone has that they never registered and would like to sell.
