sorry no pics, these guys are cosmetically just "good". they are engraved #2 and #3 and have the name of a production house on them.
handled quite a bit, you can see the brass wearing thru in parts.
but compared a more fresh looking beyer m88tg lying around, they sound nearly identical. so i...
ok, say i got someone coming in to help with a track... doing vocals, rapping, or whatever. and lets just say, ive never done this before.
um, how do you prep the artist.. what can i expect out of the whole thing?
he knows whats going on, has done this a million times. but me: never. just so...
ok, so i have this real compromise going on with my monitoring, and its time i stop it.
i added a sub to my genelec 1029s just cause i figured i aught to figure out what is going on round 68hz and below. so far it works ok. the bass is still tricky to work out, yea, its not ideal. but i really...
the ev 666's are in great shape (for 666's). the just dont seem to jibe with my pres very well, except my earthworks. where they sound really cool. anyway, a PAIR, only 25 serial numbers apart, from CBS studios in NYC. who knows what these mics have heard. my dream is that bob and ray used them...
ok, just got a pair of nice 666's in. testing them out... and damn if they sound amazing on my earthworks pre, but all other pres they sound like doo doo.
i mean Doo Doo. no other mic of mine sounds this different from pre to pre. i am imagining that this may be due to loading problems? i...
i have been watching the price of these on ebay now and again, and i have to say, the price has really dropped on them. so much that i am gonna open mine up and mod it without fear of destroying it.
last few have gone for a little over $100. they used to be (like a year ago) hard to find for...
ok, my firestation is about to head back to presonus for some work.
meanwhile, i have one of those macs that have NO input or output, except a "speaker out" that i guess is "powered". i dunno. it freaks me out.
so i was thinking of getting a "backup" interface. something dirt cheap like the...

boss rce-10 (no power supply- runs on standard boss 9v wall wart) $30
decent digital sounding chorus. smooth? no. very spacey. good on synth patches, space vocals... cold and new wave...
watch TechTV tonite at 11pm. a talk show called "unscrewed". a friend and i auditioned to be the "house band" for the show. two keytars playing original light and derivative electronic stuff (c'mon its for TV, we had to be a bit restrained)
they are waiting for reactions...
please watch, and...
i just dont get it.
i suppose it is just how i work, but i never have gotten anything useful out of a bright mic up on top. always just a bunch of cymbals... and real thin drums. then you add in the close mics to thicken it up and it sort of works, but you lose the fun of the OH mic room...
(just posted this on tapeop, but i thought you guys would like some thoughts on this as well)
again they got me. passing a guitar center on my way home from work on payday. blue ball in the mic case. last one. dont need another mic, but...
first off, i guess i didnt read much about it, but i...
just got an m88tg.
great sound. great top end. love it for voice. mmm... ssses sound like a distant waterfall, not like white noise crap. nice bass. i sound like god.
but anyway, the handling noise! the handling noise! is mine screwed up? it has so much handling noise that you cant touch the...
anyone know of anyplace where you can pick up mrls for cheaper than getting them from mrl?
the over $100 for a 1/2" 456 tape just seems a bit steep to me. especially when this costs nearly as much as i paid for my recorder!
on that note, if anyone has said mrl for sale... tell .. me...
you know i started writting something, but then i found this:
"Basically you'll need your compressor for reducing dynamics. When a singer sings softly, he/she needs to be turned up to be heard. When that singer belts out a loud note at the end of a soft phrase, that loud note needs to be kept...
everyone around here seems to be a dmp3 fan.
question: what sort of opamp chip is in it?
and if anyone knows anything about circuit design,
how does the circuit look? good design? some serious compromises? or just plain simple?
