Odd latency characteristic with Tascam US-200 USB AI

and that, David, is what this is beginning to 'feel' like. I was using my MIDI programmer/sequencer and created the audio files from the MIDI tracks, then closed that program and opened my multi-track mixer to work with those audio files. The latency/delay was there. I'm going to contact both...

Odd latency characteristic with Tascam US-200 USB AI

Thanks David. That's what I end up doing anyway, so until I get a better solution I'll keep doing it. The US-200 uses Tascam's drivers, and I have the latest version - and I have a support ticket open with them, so we'll see. If I do get a solution, I'll post it here.

Odd latency characteristic with Tascam US-200 USB AI

I purchased the US-200 a few months ago, and I'm generally very pleased with its performance. From an audio standpoint it's much better than what I was using previously. The symptom I'm asking about is a ~500mS latency that happens after the unit has been connected (and therefore 'on') for a...

    Latency/Post Production

I'm going to assume that you're talking about having one (or more) audio tracks with some delay with respect to other tracks, AND that you have some form of multi-track mixing program that you're using. IF that's the situation, then I think the answer is yes. I've done it many times. I use...

The "Q-Bot Suite" - all original composition, recorded in my home studio

Overture and first two Opuses (Opi?) are up: https://soundcloud.com/tcwild/sets/the-qbot-suite There's alot of my stuff up there (at SoundCloud); but this is the first work since I cleaned up the noise issues in my studio - thanks in part to assistance from people here. Let me know what you...

Recording: Behringer UCA-202 or Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX or Live! 24-bit?

I've used a UCA-222 (the pink version of the 202), and can only say that it works fine as long as you don't need to see or control much. If you're comfortable setting levels on your mixer and PC, the Behringer will work okay. Keep in mind that the computer will likely see that interface as a...

Help with selection of a good PCIe audio card

Problem(s) solved! Got the StarTech USB 3.0 host and the Tascam US 200 installed and working. All of the issues I was having are solved, and the setup sounds really good. Even the wife noticed the improvement. The ASUS PCIe card is going back (which pretty much pays for the hardware that...

Help with selection of a good PCIe audio card

The USB card is the StarTech.com 4-port USB 3.0 PCIe card (also on Amazon). Forum won't allow url's until I've made 10 posts, so... I looked at price/perf on many of the higher-grade USB AI's (including the KA6), and the Tascam ended up at the top of the pile. I've had good luck with other...

Help with selection of a good PCIe audio card

Thanks Dave. You know, I hadn't paid enough attention when looking at the Win 7 description of the USB AI. It did call it a 'microphone', and pulling the level down (to 5/100) took away most of the noise. I was able to adjust the mixer gain to compensate, and it works pretty well. It's a...

Help with selection of a good PCIe audio card

Thanks for the inputs. I have a USB audio interface; but there's a LOT of noise on the PC side (you cannot hear it when listening on the interface's headphone output). Guess I'll try a dedicated USB card in the PCIe slot next.

Help with selection of a good PCIe audio card

I'm hoping someone has some suggestions about which sound cards are recommended. I have a fairly new HP Pro3500 64-bit multi-core PC running Win7 Pro 64-bit, with 8Gb of ram and a separate 7200RPM HDD for audio capture. I'm not new to this PC recording thing; but my last computer was running...

Audio Engineering Career Path Options! Please Help!

Since this thread has drifted slightly, I'll drop in and relate my story... I'm retired now, from a decent career in high-tech (semiconductor industry); but wayyyy back I had a dream of fame and fortune as a rock star. I played drums in a very good band in the Los Angeles area. We were damn...

What recording/mixing software are you using?

I expect some will look down on my choices; but... I use Anvil Studio for MIDI composition/sequencing, and Bremmers Audio Design's MultiTrack Studio for all the audio mastering (with FX) and mixing. Yes, they are both 'free' downloads (for the basic 'lite' versions) and I've spent roughly...

    New Members: Introduce Yourself Here!

New to the forum; but not new to recording in various forms. Now that I'm retired I found the time to focus on creating and recording music. Although 'formally trained' (7 years of classical piano as a child) I've also played trumpet and drums along the way. Now it's all keyboard-based. I have...
