Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knew the specific amp or pedal that is used during teh chorus of Beck's sone E-Pro off the new Guero album. I'm looking for a pedal with a similar gritty sound.
Thanks!
does anyone know the drum machine that Death Cab for Cutie used on their Transatlanticism album, in particular the sone "Title and Registration"?
I can't tell if it's off the comp or from a box.
Thanks!
I just boght an older external CD burner off of Ebay for my Korg D12, that isn't on the recommended list at Korg.com. It's a Smart & Friendly 4012-cdr brand SCII which is really a Teac R55S under the hood. I have the burner set to 6 and the D12 on the G drive. The D12 recognizes the burner and...
anyone know a good place online to find cheap used external cd burners? I need something to back up my hard drive on my digital recorder. I tried ebay but there wasn't anything on there right now...
Thanks!
I'm going to record a 'light' or 'poppy' sword metal band which has a great distorted tone figured out. My question is, is it best for the rythym track to be doubled and split, double mic the amp to two tracks and split or just a solid down the middle mono track?
I did this in my bedroom today and it took me like 5 hours. Obviously i've got a lot to learn. Especially about mixing! But it's fun.....this is done on a korg 12 track

I talked to her yesterday for the first time in years and she asked...
How do you record distorted guitar? I'm trying to get it to sound a little less muddy. I've tried two mic's set at different distances and also tried just a mono track, but it always comes across a little strong for my tastes. Not precise enough. Like it's easy to get it too loud in the mix...
When I download from my Korg D12 to my computer, (Sound Forge) and then burn a disk, it sounds all right but it way too low of a level. I hear that maybe compressing will help? I haven't tried any effects or mastering tricks or anything. Mostly because I know nothing of that stuff. What...
HAHA we made this band to be funny and it turned out to be so funny I made a website. Go get rocked by Blowchain!

edit:I should mention this is all Korg D12 work!
I just downloaded the Leaf program yesterday and it's pretty cool. Very easy to use. Anyone have any good links to some free organic or acoustic sounding drum samples? Also, any advice on how to make the timing sound a little more human with a drum would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
I have a Yamaha RY20 drum machine, which is pretty cool. But none of the drum sounds are organic or sound very real. Can I run it through some effects or compress it or soemthing to make it sound more crusty?

I like these structures sometimes, just one repeating idea mixed up a little
I just got my Korg D12 and I think it's completely awesome. I have a ton to learn and am looking forward to the point when I can think less about operating the machine and more about laying down the tracks.
Anyway, here's my question: how can I use the D12 to make my recordings sound more...
How do you use the 3 (6 I think I mean) stereo tracks on the D12? Do you record on the mono tracks then bounce to the stereo tracks? Do you record straight to the stereo tracks with, say, two mic's? Thaks for the input!
I was checking out some info on the Korg D 12 and it talked about how only track 1 through 6 are mono tracks and 7 through 12 are stereo tracks. How would you record to the stereo tracks? Is it really like having a 12 track or is it like having a 9 track? What are the advantages and...
Thinking of buying one of these bad boys. I have a couple of tape fostex's and they were both great so my trust in Fostex is high. The vf-160 seems like the best bang for the buck right now on the market but I'd like to here something recorded on it. Especially with vocals! Thanks for the...
