    Mixing Bass

Lets say you got a decent bass sound and its time to mix. Where would you put the bass in relation to the kick. Should it be the same level, a bit lower, does it depend on the type of music and type of bass sound. Are there general considerations when mixing bass. Should compression be used, if...

iS A VOCAL BOOTH WORTH IT??

I would think the main purpose is to prevent outside sounds from leaking in. Vocal mics tend to be very sensitive and pick up everything. At least good ones do. Vintech v. Neve demonstration

In response, I thought the phase cancellation trick was a bit corny but still, the modules had similar sounds. So I wonder, why would the same design and same components not sound similar. As I understand it, original Neve modules can differ in sound. Therefore, there is no one Neve sound and a...

    Vintech v. Neve demonstration

The sales rep for Vintech at the AES convention had a Vintech copy of a Neve 1073 and a Neve 1073. Using a 414 mic he put them both on and then said that if they send the exact same signal, when put out of phase they will cancel each other out. He did the demo and lo and behold, the cancelled...

    Lawson has a great deal

or...at least had a great deal at the AES convention. YOu can get one tube L47 and the FET 251. The heads are interchangable so you can make four different mics. Their entire line-up as it where I believe or nearly so. They do sound great. At least, I think so. I am sure there are those that...
