I like Music Maker. I used to have a MAC so I wanted something similar to Garageband. It's fun and easy to use, so you start getting results fast.

PCs are frustrating, the operating system is unstable, and you feel disconnected from the tasks it does in the background. The other thing that makes PCs unstable is the variety of configurations. OSX is tested with one hardware setup, and fine tuned for that, hence it operates properly, 100%...

For basic editing of the stereo file I use Audacity. For more creative work I use this music software DAW.

I use Music Maker with a MOTU Ultralite interface. I have no problem getting "pro" results. Switching to Samplitude will make no difference. Music Maker is more than enough for your needs. Focus on creating and don't worry about gear lust :)

Download some trials, they can do what you are looking for and you can learn which you prefer. I use Music Maker from MAGIX, basic, just like me ;)

when you are looking at the MIDI notes on your Drumrack track right-click in the note area and you will see options to change the grid.

In the clip view you can adjust the original tempo of the clip. Altering this wil cause the clips tempo the speed up or slow down

I'm a fan of MAGIX Music Maker but I dont want to bias you. I think like most things before buying it's important to try. Most DAW's have a free trial available, so check them out.
