Here are my questions:
[First of all I'm using Reason adapted for digidesign (Pro Tools 6 LE on G5)]
* Is it possible to import a .mid file into Reason adapted for digi?
* And more importantly: is there a software tone generator for general MIDI? Is there a sort of softsynth I can access for...
hum....
I read on the tapeop message board that the KSM44 in cardiod sounds like the KSM27, it could be newbie speculation but it’s enough to make you stop and think. Anyone care to dispel this myth?
I’m looking more into the AT4050, I’m just a bit weary since I have no experience with AT...
Hum...
What about the KSM44 makes it less neutral? Detail in midrange? Peak in highs? I know it will get different response in different patterns, omni seems to look the most "flat" (according to the visual Shure frequency response graphs.)
I guess what I'm asking is does the KSM44 sound like...
I’m thinking about making a Shure KSM44, KSM32, AT4050 or an AKG C414-BULS my next purchase. Since these mics seem to get good reviews, I’m wondering why people choose one over the other. For example, does the KSM44 in cardiod sound like the KSM32? What are the differences between the different...
"Why not just record at 44.1/24? It seems that anything you gained by going to 48 is just going to get lost when you downsample."
Um, not really. The information above 22kHz (Nyquist theorem) effects the timbre of the sound event. It's best to choose a high sampling frequency and stay there as...
So I have this mixdown @ 16 bit and 48K right now. I need to get it to 44.1 without changing the pitch, using only Soundforge and a basic version Samplitude. What is a semi-exceptable way to do this?
Thanks for the help in advance.
Hello I have an ADAT XT-20 that’s in need of some minor repair. I was using the Studio Maintenance Center in San Rafael CA, but they seem to not be around anymore given that:
* they have no answering service on their phone line
* no one answers their phone
* their website has been “suspended”
*...
Okay,
Well I guess I'll drive her across the bay to go to the shop. Gives me an accuse to go to Marin county. I hope it's a fast silly fix. Wish me luck!
Thanks everyone!
Yeah, I've read the manual long before posting on this board. And I've re-read it many times.
I hold down the "Track Copy" button just as I hold down the "Digital Input" or "Analog Input" when I'm selecting those. The only difference is the Input Select area on the bottom right of the screen...
Behind The Glass by Howard Massey is great. It has tons of interviews with stars of the production and engineering world, and with pretty much the same set of questions for each person. And a lot of them are relating to the phenomenon of the home studio. They give lots of tips! Very intelligent...
This is really sad, no one seems to be able to help me.
What I guess I mean by asking this question is:
Is this just a feature that only works if the light-pipes are unplugged or auto-record on or something funky like that?, or Should I (or do I need to) get my ADAT repaired so the...
This is a good post for the mic forum.
"What is a "must have" compressor"
Um, the must have cheap compressor is an FMR RNC. It's only $160 at http://www.jacksmusicfactory.com and they ship free, supercool guys too.
There is no must have pre. Just do some research.
I know you have about 3K...
It could be just a really shittyass cable sound.
They have that frying sound, most cables do, when you wiggle them, but it gets out of control with supershitty cables.
So I finaly thought I’d try the track copy fuction to bounce some stuff but... It's not working.
So am I doing this wrong?
Can't get input monitor light to show TRK COPY!
I'm holding it down and everything.
using a low-hour XT20
Whats the dilly' yo?
I’m not expert, Audiophile or engineer. Maybe it’s just me: but I think that the 57 sounds completely different than a 58.
To me:
*The 58 has a quite noticeable upper midrange accentuation. I don’t feel it subtle in the slightest.
*The 57 goes waaayyy lower and the high end presents is pretty...
verdict
Well,
I did not check out the MK319 at GC. I got sick, yuck. I did however pick up a EV RE15. I'm really happy about that one.
I figure my RNP gets hot enough to run a 57(s) as a quasi overhead if need be. Or, any dynamic. The drums I’ll be using in my next project only consist of...
I'm going to GC in the morning to check out a MK319 (if they have one).
So, I'll give my verdict soon. And, maybe look into other cheapies if it's not my taste. Probably order a B1.
