    Tascam US-16x08 vs. Behringer UMC1820

Oh man, that is indeed a shame. I only have it in the running because Tascam claims it's supported here: Compatible OS and Software | TASCAM. But wow, I might have to either wait or spring for a more expensive one. Harsh.

    Tascam US-16x08 vs. Behringer UMC1820

Oh ya, 8 XLRs is what I meant by "preamps." And I don't even know what ADAT means, so I probably don't have one haha. I just need 8 regular ol' XLR inputs with phantom power to record me drumming the way I like. Looks like Tascam takes it!

    Tascam US-16x08 vs. Behringer UMC1820

Hello everybody, I unwittingly made my Tascam US-1641 obsolete by updating to the latest Mac OS, so now I need a new audio interface. 8 preamps and a maximum cost of $300 are my two main needs, and I've narrowed it down to the Tascam US-16x08 or the Behringer UMC1820. Is one of those...

    Recording in a dive bar

Thanks for the replies everyone! The show itself was great! Even though I had my gain a bit too high, it's still better than the iPhone's built in mic (especially because I had my phone on the bass amp). They ended up having a little sound equipment, but I didn't have a chance to scope it out.

    Recording in a dive bar

There actually was a little PA/mixer, but no sound guy. I ended up putting my mic at the edge of the stage, about level with my kick. I had the gain just a bit too high, but I messed with it in Cubase and got it sound almost alright. I'll be uploading a video or two as soon as I review the...

    Recording in a dive bar

Thanks! I'm pretty sure there their setup isn't that elaborate, but I'll try my mic where that stuff would be anyways.

    Recording in a dive bar

Hello, I'm playing a show tonight in a-you guessed it-dive bar, and I want to get a decent recording. There's a PA for the vox, but everything else is unmiced. My field recording gear is unfortunately pretty bare bones: SM57 iRig Pre iPhone (for video) What would be the best place for my one...

How to best use MD 421-II

Ya these Pyle mics aren't great, but I only have entry level drums, and I can get a surprisingly good sound with proper tuning and placement.

How to best use MD 421-II

It's a good guitar mike, eh? I'll have to try it when I record my guitarist too!

How to best use MD 421-II

Hey thanks for the reply! Ordinarily, I would start messing with it right away, but I'm in the middle of writing a big essay, so I'm stuck at my computer. Thanks for the tip about the roll off though! I've never had a mic with that feature before.

How to best use MD 421-II

Hello, I won a Sennheiser MD 421-II from Musician's Friend. I'm a drummer, and right now I am playing and recording a pretty basic 4 piece kit. It consists of: Pearl Vision VX Birch snare - currently using and liking a SM57 12 inch tom 16 inch floor tom - toms both have Pyle pro mics 22x18...
