Help...my wave files have been taken over by real player 1

Buried somewhere in the preferences of RealPlayer One is a screen where you can choose or un-choose which files are associated with it. There may or may not also be a place to choose whether or not RealPlayer One will automatically re-associate them. I don't have a machine handy with that...

DMT 8VL Hard Disk Replacement Problem

By all means fdisk it and try it without any kind of file system or partitions on it. For some reason I was under the impression that the Samsung utility did this, but it may well do too much as far formatting goes and leave the DMT-8VL unable to do anything. I don't think the the DMT-8VL uses...

is guitar cable useable to connect audiobuddy to line in?

Re: cool It's not that it's crappier--it's just for a different purpose. The signals being pushed through a guitar cable (like from an intrument to an amp or a pre-amp to a recorder in your case) are usually very weak and prone to interference, so a thin conductor is okay but it must be...

DMT 8VL Hard Disk Replacement Problem

Have you made sure that any master/slave jumpers are properly set (same as the old 540MB drive)? Other than that, I'm at a loss for suggestions, assuming the cables are all oriented and seated correctly. That drive doesn't appear on the compatibility list at...

    Behringer HA4600: Pure Genius?

Regebro, that's exactly what it's for...allowing the person who's mic'ed to determine their own effect and level relative to the stereo headphone mix. The mic "throughs" even pass phantom power from your pre-amp on to the mic, according to the manual. I suspect I don't have the ear to tell if...

    Dumb Analog Question

If someone were to take, say, a 1/2" 4-track recorder and record the left channel twice on tracks 1 and 2 and the right channel twice on tracks 3 and 4, would the results sonically be the same as recording on a stereo 1/2" recorder?

    Behringer HA4600: Pure Genius?

I wanted a headphone amp, but have been kind of scared to try Behringer gear due to all the horror stories (and I hadn't heard about the fire thing). Instead I got an ART HPFX. It's a four-way headphone splitter that also can "pick off" signal from two mics, effect it (reverbs, delays, and...

New questions in this thread !!

Actually, I was asking Mr. Jones... :D ...tactless, I know, but these days you can't go around leaving stones unturned. Belgium would be a pretty difficult commute for my friend (though given our appetite for Belgian-style beer, it would be tempting)! :D -OB

New questions in this thread !!

WAY off topic, but are you an architect? You seem well-versed in the subject. I ask because a close friend of mine is a home designer-draftsman with something like twenty years' experience who's found himself out of a job (people around town don't seem to be building so many of the kind of...

    Help me name my studio

But look out, it looks like "The Secret Lair of the Diabolical Mr. Jones" is gaining momentum! Its only true flaw is that it's hard to fit on the side of an advertising blimp (when Austin finally gets one--gotta look to the future). I must admit I've never had cedar fever, so I don't...

    Small guitar amps

I've got a Silverface (70s) Fender Champ. 6 watts of tube fury. Bought it from a harmonica player for 70 bucks. Shouldn't be too hard to find one. I hear a lot of famous records have been made using Champs. I sure like the way mine sounds. If you can find one for something like that...

    Hard disks for DMT8

Well, now you've got me wondering about it. I have a 2.5 (or 2.55 or 2.6, something like that) in mine but I think it only does somewhere in the 40-50 minute range of recording time. This might mean it's only seeing 2 gigs of that drive. If it weren't a real pain the neck to swap the drives...

    Hard disks for DMT8

Demto, My DMT-8 shipped new with a 2.5 gig drive and it seems to use all of it. I am under the impression that 8 or 8.4 gigs or something like that is the most it will recognize, but can't remember where I heard this. Since there probably aren't any new disk drives out there smaller than...

    j-station

If the ports on the Audiophile are 5-pin female and the ports on the J-station are both 5-pin female, you just need two regular old MIDI cables (male connectors on either end). Plug the 24/96's MIDI out to the J-station's MIDI in and vice versa. This should hook you right up!

    Never buy this f_cking shit

Freakin' old microphone I had. Neumann U47 or something like that. Dropped it once and it stopped working. Guy I bought it from wouldn't give me my fifty bucks back, either. ;) OB (seriously, though, the only thing I have bought that I have just found to be unusable was an old...

    DMT-8 and CPU?

How do you mean? Synchronizing recording and playback so you have that many more tracks? Synchronizing the DMT-8 to computer-based audio or midi playback? Connecting the DMT-8 to the computer to use it as a mastering deck? Connecting the DMT-8 to the computer to use it to back up projects...
