I prefer the smaller Silverface amps for recording. Dont ask me why:

This guy gets a lot out of this combination.
They always hit the mark for some reason:

I bought a 79 Vibro Champ, and the guy I bought it off had an ISO box. It sounded so good.
As for the attenuator, you wont need one with a 70's champ. A Marshall JMP-50 reissue, but it would be a waste of money on a Champ.
Had a listen.
Recordings are fine and music is well written and performed. Nice guitar playing and clear vocals. The vocals were much louder on "The Wall" and "A Song for Mom"
My only recommendations are musical.
1. Silence.
Need to stop some instruments and replace them with others within...
This comes down to what you want to do.
If you want a particular sound involving jazz improvisation and knowing melody lines over certain harmonic intervals, then scales and music theory will be important.
If you are playing bass for a Jimmy Reed or AC-DC cover band,......... not so much.

OK,
The '76 had a maple neck with a mahogany body. The maple necks were introduced in 1975 and never used before on the LP Customs.
As such, LP Customs pre-75 are worth more in the vintage market as they have mahogany necks.
With regard to the overall weight of the guitar, the full mahogany...
Since my last foray in the Home Recording forums (guitar subsection), I have started an online store for my collection through prompting from (certain members here and) my girlfriend.
I am happy to report that the interactions with customers I have experienced have been very heart warming and...

Just sold a Genz Benz GBE1200 with 8*10 Cabinet to a bass player in my local area. He was in a heavy rock band, and knew about the amp. He asked me about it, and I said "If I took...
In the opposite boat. Trying to go smaller.
Lifting, packing and carrying large heads and wheeling 8*10 cabinets around on Saturday night are not my gig. In the home studio, I just want nice tone. So for live gigging, take weight into consideration.
I've run a Genz Benz GBE 1200 and 750 with a...
I just like the really smooth bass lines. They may not be easy or hard to play. They just make the song.

Thanks to this thread, I can now mute my cymbals. There is a small rubber rim underneath, and provided your hand makes contact with it, it silences the sound.
Now I just have to develop a technique where I would consistently use that method.
Amazing recorded sound. Some really nice things going on in his playing.
On a standard Telecaster with the lipstick pickups, I like the middle position. All positions are OK, but that is generally where things stay.
For the HH Tele's I really admire the neck pickup. So rich and warm and for...
