"Trampoline" - acoustic Joe Henry cover

This is the other cover song my wife and I recorded at a north woods WI cabin this past weekend for our 22nd anniversary. Recorded live to one track with GarageBand on my iPad with the built-in mics. No EQ or compression added yet (didn't sound as though it needed it to me) - only some reverb...

    "Speyside" (Bon Iver cover)

My wife and I went up to a cabin in the north WI woods this past weekend for our 22nd anniversary, and while we were there, we recorded a couple of cover songs (Joe Henry's "Trampoline" being the other) for fun. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing recorded on GarageBand on my iPad with the...

"Mercy Street" (Peter Gabriel cover) Modern/Indie Folk

@R D Smith Thanks so much for the listen and the kind words. @stratmonkee Thanks! Yes, this is my favorite off that album for sure - probably of all of his stuff. Yes, that's a violin (several overdubs at points). Glad you enjoyed it! @Papanate That hurdy-gurdy effect is one of my favorite...

"Mercy Street" (Peter Gabriel cover) Modern/Indie Folk

Thanks for the listen and the comments. There's only a subtle kick drum accenting the bass right now. I'm still debating whether I should add anymore percussion. Regarding the bagpipe-like instrument, I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about. If it's the thing that's playing the melody...

"Mercy Street" (Peter Gabriel cover) Modern/Indie Folk

Thanks for the listen. 🙂 Actually, it was my idea to break things down during the chorus, as I thought it made for some nice moments. Different strokes! 😉 The original sounds quite different (dominated by synths, appears on his 1986 "So" album). My favorite song of his for sure.

Where Rainbows Never Die -Final Mix-

Nicely done! Vocals sound nice, and there's plenty of tasteful playing from everyone. Just one nit ... I don't know if this is intentional or not, but the guitar player is missing one chord. The main progression should be (or, at least, the way Chris plays it) E - B - C# - A, but the guitar...

Full Circle - Latest track from my upcoming album - (Big Pink Floyd influence)

Nice one! Great tones and tasteful playing. Very interesting chord progression. The first time the Cm to Ab came around, I thought it was a key change. 😉 But then I realized it was just all part of the same progression. I can definitely hear the PF influence, but it's far from derivative. Nice...

New original tune written and recorded by my 14 yo daughter: “Everyday”

Love it! How awesome to get to work on this with your daughter! 🙂 She did a great job on everything. Very interesting stuff! Who are her influences?

"Mercy Street" (Peter Gabriel cover) Modern/Indie Folk

Hey y'all, This is our cover of Gabriel's "Mercy Street." I'm actually not 100% done tracking - we still have to add a higher female harmony part in the chorus - but it's very close, and I'm not sure when we're going to be able to do that, so I'm doing what I can (working on the mix) in the...

New Guitar Day - Epiphone 1955 Joe Bonamassa model Les Paul

Good to hear! 🙂 I have to say, this is far and away the most beautiful guitar I've ever owned (IMO, obviously), and it plays incredibly well. It's moved into my "won't ever sell" category faster than any guitar I've owned. If you buy one, I can't imagine you'll regret it one bit! 😉

New Guitar Day - Epiphone 1955 Joe Bonamassa model Les Paul

Are you talking about the string saddles? That's interesting. I hadn't noticed any discomfort. Different for everyone, though, I'm sure!

New Guitar Day - Epiphone 1955 Joe Bonamassa model Les Paul

Ha! I'm actually from TX and didn't move to Waukesha until 2021. 😉 We're actually in Franklin now (South Milwaukee suburb); I guess I need to change my info on here. 🙂 Yes, I'm really digging the P90s as well.

New Guitar Day - Epiphone 1955 Joe Bonamassa model Les Paul

I used to be nothing but a Fender guy for decades, but an Epiphone Les Paul Special in TV yellow started to change my mind. It's an amazing guitar. This one is even better. It's as nice as any guitar I've played. The finish is gorgeous and flawless, the fretwork is immaculate, beautiful binding...

New Song - Any Thoughts Welcome!

Nice one! I like how you start on the ii chord and move up from there to the V6 chord. Great guitar tones. There are a few flat spots in the vocals that I think could be polished up; I'd also like to hear the very opening of the song a little tighter with everyone starting together; it's a bit...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Thanks for all the replies and ideas, y'all. I've been super busy and haven't had a chance to look at it again, yet, but I will and will report my findings.

    RWRP middle pickup question

Interesting! I spend most of time in positions 1 and 5. 3 is my next favorite. I hardly ever use the in-between positions, which might seem a little odd, given this thread. But I was just curious as to what's going on here, as I've never run into this kind of thing before.

    RWRP middle pickup question

No ... the bolded line above is not correct. I don't know how else to say this: The position that has the issue is the neck/middle position - not the bridge/middle. The bridge/middle position - the second nearest the floor - sounds absolutely fine. The neck/middle position - the second nearest...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Sorry I didn't notice your question about the hum. I'll have to check that out. The guitar is shielded, so the hum is already much better than on a typical Strat, but I'll see if I can find out. I just listened to my demo with headphones, and I couldn't notice a difference, but I think it's...

    RWRP middle pickup question

I wired my guitar exactly like the picture. According to the chart posted above (in post #20): position 1 = bridge only position 2 = bridge/middle position 3 = middle only position 4 = neck/middle position 5 = neck only Are you calling position 4 bridge/middle? This is why I was avoiding...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Thanks for the info, and I can certainly try that. But I just want to reiterate that I'm not having any issues at all with the humbucking pickup in the bridge. It sounds fine, as does the bridge/middle position, which is both the Little 59 humbucker and the (supposedly) RWRP single coil. The...
