    Layering guitars?

i would say less. but honestly you should try with a test track and listen to the difference between different panning positions. there will be a point when you can discern a noticeable difference in fullness from all dead center, all panned hard, and various positions closer to center.

    Layering guitars?

if your looking for more thickness in your mix try to keep your pans closer to the mid-center instead of hard right and left. in my experience pushing two duplicated guitar tracks hard right and left will not give a more full stereo presence per say but rather thin out the effectiveness of...

How can i make a good bad drum recording?

So there seems to be an inability on my part to find out how to make a good BAD drum recording. Should I just bus them all into a DS-1? :thumbs up: I guess what I'm looking for is something pretty genre specific, but I'm looking to achieve a drum sound that is pretty trashy (kinda post punky...

Upon my first attempt in gathering Recording equipment

You will need something to power your mic with phantom power and something that will help you access the audio in your computer. A small 2 channel interface will carry phantom or a USB mic preamp like the ART USB Dual Pre will accomplish the task...

    Does this setup work?

Honestly, you could try the one mic drum technique. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS_YZpn818A From what I have heard the pyle mic kit isn't that bad of a deal, but you would need something to plug all the mics in. If you aren't looking for super quality you could pick up a mixer from a pawn...

    Firepod and Mac HELP!

The light was blue and this is before I knew about the "jiggle the power supply" to get it blue so I am assuming that is what happened. Apparently he didn't actually see it recognized as a firewire device just told me it was syncing due to the blue light.

    Firepod and Mac HELP!

By "won't sync" I mean the light is red and the computer does not recognize it. When I go under system report there is nothing under the firewire tab. I am using Logic Express and it also does not recognize there is a device for input or output. My mac is a late 2011 running Lion 10.7.5. I have...

    Understanding my new AT2035

I recently used this mic as a room mic for guitar that was also close mic'd with a 57a, it was a bout 4.5 ft away from the cab and about 2 feet off the ground, sound great together. It's also important to note it was upside down.
