How many of you use pitch correction for your own vocals?

Tried some times, but I could only use it for creating BG choirs. Whenever I sing with all my heart, I have a rather distorted voice that made autotune run wild as well as it made TC VoiceLive... There are some harmonics in the voice due to the distortion, that seem to make my voice hard to track...

    Dumb question about hiss

I don't get why you don't wanna avoid the hiss... Such a retro synth? IMHO, all noise reduction stuff sucks a lot of the life out... If creedence did tricky fade outs, it might have been a problem of that time... I had the impression, that every time I had too much hiss, it was an error made by...

    Side Chain compression

I assume you're kinda overdoing it, but I assume that it will be useful for understanding what you'll have to do in the next mixes. Sidechaining a multicomp to get clarity in the mix seems a little too much for me, but YMMV. I assume, that some of the 2000ish pop punk sound did stuff like that...

how do i get the perfect distortion?

...afaik, the eleven rack gives you exactly that possibility, as it records the nonamped track together with the amped one, so you can use another additional amp as well. Instead of using heavier distortion, you can often use more *rerecorded* tracks, if the guitar player is capable of doing...

Need Help Coaching Good Singer with Horrible Recording Technique!!!

I assume your singer is not that good a singer as you might think. Mic control is one of the most important things for a (non-opera) singer. A lot of the learning curve can be pampered, if You help him as a 'producer'. Adjust levels for him. Show him what proximity does. If that's too much work...

Good recording device for amateur singer?

I think that the H4n might be the way to go. You *might* be lucky to find one on the bay used for around 100€. It is no 'real' vocal mic, so voices tend to sound thin, but it gives alot more depth than the (cellphone? skype mic) solution she's prolly using now... And you can add external mics...

Need Help Getting Crisp Vocal Audio When Recording.

I've done recordings with a simple 58 Beta handheld through my VS mic input that did neither sound tinny nor muffled (nothing around, scibble down an idea...). They definitely did miss that 'pro' silky high end shine (but a lot of my recordings do ;) ) I also assume that you're doing something...

How to record guitar and vocals without vocals mic picking up guitar

..use one of those... (Sorry, but I couldn't resist!) http://www.bft-online.de/fileadmin/bft/Presse/Kleintiergesundheit/Schmerztherapien_16.03.2011/Operierter_Hund.JPG no... sincerely: why don't you try recording just the guitar and singing the song either at very low volume or 'in your head'...

Removing a Kick Drum from an Acapella

I assume the Phase Inversion will get nasty comb filtering, as it is not a sample U use and will therefore Sound different with every hit... But it will be worth a try. I assume that the EQ Approach will work better, especially, if you use only short fades to the EQed track and back. I assume...

    1950's style reverb

I have the Impression that the predelay is rather big on the 'volare'-verb. To me it sounds like a rather Long and narrow room. High damping seems to be quite strong, while the low damping is rather low. But I may be wrong, anyway...

Sibilance makes me want to cut my ears off

I think your track Sounds OK, I'd only try to cut some highs on the ambience, once you add them, as there, the esses ight disturb...

    VS-880-EX mixdown to CD

    VS-880-EX mixdown to CD

I've been Messing around with a VS880EX for quite a while. I tried to go the Audio-CD-Burner route and IMHO it is to be avoided! The CDs (Audio CD-R) are REALLY expensive unless you use a VERY expensive burner (and they will be hard to get, soon). In the EX Manual, it is stated, that there is a...

    Zoom R-16

I assume that the prob is the impedance of the other Inputs; you prolly have the possibility of changing Input 1 to high impedance. Use some pre (it may even be a stomp box, but only with not-true-Bypass), and it should work also...

Sibilance makes me want to cut my ears off

I happened to be succesful with multiband compression. Find out the Sibilant band, put that into one of the multicomp bands and fiddle until you have a gain reduction at the 's'. (Of course don't use makeup gain ;-) ) Find the band with an EQ raising the freqs.I did not use the 's'-band as the...

    Virtual guitar amps/analog guitar amps

Well, there ARE women... No, let's stop this... To me, the Statement "it's no rock 'n' roll" sums it up best... I think you can get tones that will be ok, good, or even GREAT in the mix, but it HAS that vaseline attitude...

I wanna hear some live recordings

...done with a sony digital Video cam (a tape one; I thought this was the IDEAL cam) with on board mics from FAR behind the stage... But there is a nice kinda Bridge over the audience... I wanted to go direct from the FOH mixer to Zomm H4n but forgot the Little bugger ;-)...

Microphone Picking Up Audio From Headphones

It's not even sure that humbuckers reject this, as you may be in a situation where one coil is significantly nearer to the noise source than the other is... The no perfect cancellation occurs and with high gain...
