There are many ways to look at this. In fact i think most bands experience this issue. If you think you are much more efficient, then by all means go ahead and cement your position as the songwriter. They are your bandmates so i am sure they will be fine if you need to work in your own way...

Yea. Bobbsy is right about the workaround with headphones. It is just going to be damn tedious running about testing your mix on any systems you can find; and sadly most of us do not have the luxury of time. Get a decent monitor speakers comfortable for your budget. Hell, even the kurzweil...

SM57 is what i will recommend you for picking up the amps. But it is not exactly suitable for overheads. It is pretty good on the snares too. Perhaps stating your budget might help the experienced users to identify what is best for you. =)
