    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Hello again guys, I'm back to post the final film version if anyone is interested in taking a look. Up at the top of the page was the music for the film and the demo ideas I'd come up with during production. Here's the finished product: edit: evidently the film isn't officially released yet...

TASCAM 234 being a naughty boy

(Long time no post, hi all!) :spank: I had to do that for my 244 and it made all the difference and were easy to install, but that was 6-7 years ago I think and it would seem that I need to do it again! I see the belts are available on the 'bay right now so it's a good time to do it. The only...

"Filter Resonance" might just be my favorite term :) Also varying levels of Brute Factor, which is an internal feature so you don't have to loop the headphone out to the external audio in. I've been playing this thing for nearly 5 years and I still don't understand all the ins and outs.

Guys, it has been a while. A lot of the music I've made since I last posted here has been...gasp...DIGITAL! :spank: That's changed now, I broke out the Tascam 244 for use during a 48hr Film Project in Denver and I thought I'd pass some stuff on. These are 3 pieces I made while they were...

A cool new gig, and a question or two

Thanks as ever for the help! The MOTU 8m is waaaaaaaaay out of my price range though I'm sure it would be nice. An 828 used is much more doable for me, though the Focusrite 18i20 would be a bit softer on my wallet. From looking at the back of both of these units, the ADAT Lightpipe would be...

A cool new gig, and a question or two

It's been a while since I've been around, hi guys. :spank: The situation right now is...the MS-16 has been in storage for a while. However, in the next month I should be getting the old girl moved into a new home and up and running! Then I'm going to pull out that channel card and have a...

OVERWHELMING MAJORITY - an audiovisual work

Also, to go a bit deeper here, I think that at some point the pressure buildup of keeping everything to yourself will eventually cause you to explode, and that can manifest itself in many different ways, sometimes with extremely tragic results (as part of my research, I found this article to be...

OVERWHELMING MAJORITY - an audiovisual work

Thanks guys! It's been killing me, holding it back since last spring, but it needed to run its course at festivals, and everything else I've been working on is just as long-term. I was beginning research and groundwork more than 2 years ago, Shot the super 8 footage between January and March...

OVERWHELMING MAJORITY - an audiovisual work

I guess it doesn't let me just post a link, I have to embed a video! I posted this under analog recordings but I'm brave enough to give it its own post here too. This is a film I made which has been screening in festivals for the last year and a half, now I give it to the Internet. I don't...

Overwhelming Majority Guys, it's been a while, I've been busy making work! Here is a short film I made called Overwhelming Majority, it's been screening at festivals and now I give it to the Internet. It's an experimental documentary about alienation, loneliness, social anxiety, mental...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Man guys, it seems like forever since I had something to post, many projects but not many to the point of sharing on the internet. Back in November my university started a new film festival, all centered around the number 14, and the challenge of it was to come up with a movie from scratch and...

    Tascam 244 Project

Shouldn't be too hard from what I remember, just pull up. If in doubt, this is where you want to go: MZE-Electroarts Entertainment - MZEntertainment.com: Dr. ZEE WORKSHOP TASCAM-244 4-track Cassette Portastudio Restoration and Servicing Project I do think I remember having to use a rag and...

    Lost Tapes

I used a cassette to make a demo for a film I was scoring back in January, then erased the tape to record the final score. Kind of sad that I did that now, but I do have the digital multitracks so if I ever want to go back and pull something off them. That's probably the lamest story on this...

    Your input please...

Buy the tapes Sweetbeats, I'm sure that they'll add to the resell value of the machine...IF you can get it working, hmmm?

A cool new gig, and a question or two

Well it turns out the guy on the 'bay has no more channel cards anyway, so my only choice would be to switch out the relays. Unless I can pay you to send me a card with good relays, Sweetbeats? :D Na, I think I'm going to have to learn how to solder and unsolder...at least where my dad failed...

A cool new gig, and a question or two

Well. When putting everything back together I did notice something about the channel 5 card: Not that it's a good picture, but that card seems to have quite a bit of corrosion/oxidation, especially around the relays (which is what you might be able to tell from the picture). All the others...

A cool new gig, and a question or two

Thanks, I have been glancing at that thread and it has been helpful, and maybe I should fight my nature and learn how to solder but replacing the card just seems easier...or at least just trying to reseat it and see what that does. Look, I even got the front panel off! Aren't you proud of me...

A cool new gig, and a question or two

E(Yes...now that I think of it, there would be 1 is probably repro, 2 is sync, hmmm? Or vice versa) (Oh, and I guess I didn't really reseat the card, just unplugged the connections...learning as I go) ANYWAY. I switched channel cards 5 and 6, and it is what you say, a relay acting up. Now...

A cool new gig, and a question or two

Thanks for being here guys, I don't think we quite appreciate you enough, but we can all try! Here is a shot right off the computer screen, obviously channel 5 is different. Thankfully Channel 5 is right on top and I didn't have to go digging to far to find it. Before I really got my hands...
