i'll be tracking local bands ect. i have minimal gear and i'll don't have a building yet. i'll be leasing / purchasing aside from what i'm looking at spending on contruction / gear / ect though. i am looking for somewhat of a barebones set-up initially.
built in sound cards are built to play the windows start up sound and thats about it. i'd definately get a new one, anything is probably better than whats in there.
alot of the time when i record back up vocal parts they stick out along with the lead vocalsmaking it very cluttered, and if i turn them down they just get lost in the mix. any ideas on how to take the presence out of the back up vocals?
this is my bands demo that we just finished recording and i wanted to know what you thought even though i'm kind of scared, haha. i know its not the best but just let me know what you think cause i'm always willing to try harder and make things better.
Bad Day...
well we did take apart the strat but its confusing because:
1: the strat has three pick ups, two tone knobs, one volume knob and a 3 way selector.
2: the single coils on the strat had 2 wires, the humbucker we want to use has 4
so basically we're trying to simplify our strat set up to one...
hey guys
me and my buddy are building a guitar and we're almost done except we're trying to make sense of the electronics. he bought a humbucker that he wants to throw in the bridge and we're scrapping the electronics off of strat. we were trying to figure out how to hook the tone/volume off...
just get a mixer and some mics
i was in the same spot a couple of months ago and went on down and got some ECM8000's some SM57's and all ready had my R-11's. i borrowed a mixer and went mics, mixer, straight into my POS sound card. so far its nothing too great because for the most part i...
i probably should have been a little more clear. my problem isn't with anything after, its just while monitoring the mix in the headphones, whats being recorded is way to loud and everything else is behind it, after its recorded though, it sits with everything else.
anyone know how good this thing is? or anything else around the same price range thats better? looking to upgrade my sound card

im running my mics into a mixer, then mixer out to the soundboard on the computer. i keep the lvls a little below clipping but they never touch the red. the problem is that when monitoring the playback and the new recording the new recording is always way louder than the play back. and if i...
i used the samson r-11's for vocals and sometimes micing a guitar cab during practice and they work alot better than i would have thought. they were like 70 bucks for 3 i think. i just bought a 57 and a 58 though, hehe
i thought i'd try to make some horn parts a little fatter so i recorded a second trombone part that was for the most part unison with the first and when i played it back it sounded really like, whoa, it sounded like i used some crazy synth and im not sure why. i used the same trombone, same...
