    RadioHell mix critique

I am not familiar with this style, but can the vocals come up a bit more. I feel the instruments are dominating the mix and the vocals is getting buried. And the voice sound very good too! Overall, nice tune and everything seems to blend well!

    An in-progress song... "Perfect Woman"

I think the balance and overall mix sound really good. Well done!! I agree with DM60. The vocals sound a bit separate from the mix. Feels like they are both playing at a different tempo or something. Or the vocals sound dry compared to the mix. I listen in an untreated room just so you know...

    New Mix after Comments

Thanks Pinky. Thanks Ido. I agree about the siblance. I use SM Beta 58. In fact, I low passed around 16K since I record in a untreated room. I had a kind of sore throat so my voice wasn't really coming out too. I just started singing with headphones so was holding back a bit I think. So a...

    Old Dog. New Tricks

Hey ido, This sounds really good!! Very clean and everything has its own space. If I had to make some suggestions. Please note I could be wrong, my room is not treated 1. Maybe add a mix bus compressor to glue everything together and sound tighter. 2. The guitar could use some distortion...

Thanks for all the great feedback! Hope I've improved more :,D

I think you should work on learning to record better and try to improve every song as much as you can. As you have in your profile "most songs are one take and unedited". People who post here usually take lot of time working on their song before they post here for feedback.

Here's an alt-rock song that I'm currently writing. Are the vocals off-key?

I heard the newer version. I am not sure what mic you are using, but I can barely hear hear your vocals. Hvae you been recording for a while? Raise the vocals a bit. Add some compression. It seems like the volume is up and down. I think you have a good voice. Let it come out.

Great online resources for vocal training?

I think your best chance is to pick up a book from Richard Miller. In fact, his books are taught in grad school all over the country. His book is not about this "method" or "my experience", it is based on the actual physiology or the science of voice. Most good vocal teachers should know this...

    Check My Bollywood Mix Please

Thank you Steve and Chillie! You are both right about the vocal issues. I think, I lose the tempo of the song when I cannot hear the drums, especially in the slow areas. And that effects the pitch and everything. And this was the first time I used headphones so still figuring the volume levels.

    Check My Bollywood Mix Please

Thank you Moptop for your kind words! It is a romantic song. It says" You eyes reveal all the secrets. And my heart is listening to your silence ".. something like that you know. In fact, I had kind of gently low passed the vocals at around 15K.

LET ME OUT - colab featuring Sammy Dixon(vocals)

This has a nice groove and vibe. I was bouncing my leg as I was listening! My suggestion: 1. The bass guitar could come up a bit and would elp if you could get it more grungy or distortion. it seems like the one driving the song. 1. The vocals could come up more. is getting buried under. Maybe...

Short film - Score opinions welcome

Very nice! I think the vocals could be compressed a bit so it sounds more movie like and in your face. Also, I feel like everything could be be tightened up a bit. Maybe less reverb or low passing reverb for the instruments Also, nothing music related, but the fonts could be made a bit more...

    Hearing pitch

I think you need to have background instrumentals ( like a piano or guitar) to keep in line with the pitch, especially when you sing high. Atleast to start off with. Or you have to be very good.

    Remove vocal from track app?

In fact, there is a software that does exactly this from Audionamix. And they have done this for some of the recent hollywood movies! They have been at the NAMM conference for almost 3-4 years now. You can get it pretty good if you use their spectral editing software. Here it is: Vocal...

    Reeee---veerb

The best advice on mixing early reflections I have seen is to start with early reflections and figure out the room size. So keep the reverb to zero, turn up the early reflections and then adjust the room size. Once you get the vocal to fit the room, then the reverb tends to fit in well. Here is...
