Hi,
I was thinking of building an audio machine, but I want to do it on the cheap as well as good.
So, I was going to get the M-Audio Delta 1010LT, and then build a machine with an Athlon processor at its core.
So, my question is, I know that Athlons are pretty good at audio calculations...
Hi,
I am looking into getting a wah-wah pedal, and I would mostly like to use it with a clavinet patch I have on my keyboard, and secondarily for use with guitar.
Are there wahs that are designed more for keyboard use, as oposed to guitar use, or are most wahs the same...
Let me know. I'm...
Ooops... my bad, it is .001uF - darned fractions, or whatever they are... ;)
Yeah, Radio Shack isn't very helpful when it comes to the knowledge department (or anything else if you ask people on this board.)
Hey Muttley, these mics are kind of mickey mouse, in that they aren't professionally...
I was able to find the 1000pF capacitor at Radio Shack (I think they list it as .0001 uF there)
but, if you want to pay the $5 handling fee for a part that is super cheap, here is the part number at DigiKey - C315C102J1G5CA
Somebody asked what part of the drums to use this for... probably...
Get some help...
You really need 4 hands to do it right... so get somebody to hold the capsule and a wire with some pliers, while you do the soldering (or vice versa.)
I did it alone, but it took about 3 or 4 tries. The solder actually kind of pools on the contacts, and stays away from the...
:D
That is funny.
But I am serious, and not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, but like I said before, record companies goal is to sell shiny discs, not good music - and the cheaper they can do it, the better.
Also, it helps your record sales if you can have Pepsi (or Volkswagon, or...
Tucci,
I think that your last sentence hit it right on the nose:
"they want to deaden our brains and hearts."
The thing is, record companies cannot make money off of good music, because good music has some depth to it. Not necessarily intellectual depth, or emotional depth, or even musical...
Okay,
I'm not a lawyer, so don't trust my advice :)
Anyway, here's how I think it works -
You need to file a mechanical license to copyright the actual recording of the spoken word - that means that no one can use the recording of the words in any project without your permission. The...
These mics are worth the investment of $20 a piece, they work well, and they are kind of fun to make.
That being said, I don't know if they are what you are looking for. These aren't really anything like the B1.
What do you need to get a new mic for? Vocals? Drums?
Let us know.
My guess is that SONAR or Cakewalk would be overkill for recording bluegrass, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be adding a bunch of effects, besides reverb or EQ...
If you're using the Behringer, you shouldn't connect it to the Mic In of your soundcard for recording, only the line in.
However, if...
Okay,
Here's the deal - I don't have wads of cash to spend right now, but I need some sort of monitoring solution that is nice.
So, I was wondering if it is a not-entirely-dumb idea to save money and just buy a single quality monitor to check up on the sound of the mix. And then buy a second...
My question is: Do you need to record more than 1 track at a time into your computer?
If the answer is yes, then you need to get a multiple input soundcard such as this: http://www.m-audio.com/products/m-audio/delta44.php
Or this: http://www.aardvarkaudio.com/aasd-v1/products/2496-main.html...
Thanks for your replies.
After doing a little more research - an ADAT sounds just about perfect for my needs. (I would love a reel-to-reel, but I just don't trust myself to take care of it well enough.)
Do you know the difference between models of ADAT recorders, or where I could look up specs...
I currently do all my recording on a computer - but I am pretty sure that I am going to be premanently separated from my computer in about two or three months (long story.)
At the moment, I don't really want to plunk down $1000 + to get another decent computer for recording, so I was wondering...
Your best bet would be to get a mic that would be versatile for overheads and probably for toms as well - since you already have an SM57 for snare I wouldn't bother using a second mic for the snare...
But you should (for versatility) get another SM57, and just use it for overheads...
Or you...
What do you have?
What mics do you have already? This would help answer your questions...
As for SM57 vs. SM58 - in general they are very very similar - some people argue that the SM58 is just a SM57 with a windscreen - others say that there is a subtle difference in frequency response.
My...
My guess is that it's the guitar cable... I used to have this happen alot when I played electric guitar...
Anyway - (I hope somebody will correct me if I'm wrong) This is caused by improper electrical grounding of some sort - and the guitar cord is the most likely culprit - are you hearing alot...
I've got a question, because it sounds like you are just starting out (as am I)
Why so many channels? These seem like huge mixers to start out on.
What are you recording to? A computer? Tape?
If you want the best sound for the $1500 range, I would get a smaller, higher quality mixer (and...
A microphone going into a Behringer 602a/802a going into your computer's sound card (assuming it's hooked up right) is all you need to record. As long as it transmits sound to your soundcard which you can record on your computer, then that is all you need.
However, if you want to have a...
