Anyone know whether the Mackie 24•8 Studio Console is fitted nowadays with the VLZ pre-amps? It's difficult to tell on the Mackie site if it does or not. I know in past posts here (around a year or more ago) I have read that the 24•8 and the 32•8 weren't fitted with the VLZ pre-amps.
Just...
Long post, so I apologize up front...
I've been researching all of this a lot lately but first let me quickly tell you my recording past.
I've been recording music, whether live or tracked, since about 1984 and what began as simply setting up a boombox in the middle of the room (those...
Not only do you hear some clipping, but a big portion of the Rush community also has major problems with this disc.

I have a Mackie 1604VLZ and just got around to having a purpose to use the Inserts (to 2 synced-ADATs) and did a search finding this wonderful information because the Mackie Owner's Manual didn't explain as nicely as this did. Thanks!
The Mackie manual says "Even though channels 1-8 already...
Great! I didn't even think of using the Inserts on my Mackie for this. I always think of those as an out to a effects unit and back in instead of just an out. Plus, I've read some on the Behringer Eurodesk and a lot of people on this board abhore Behringer mixers so it looks like my Mackie...
I'm looking to definitely get one of these HD24s, but was wondering what everyone was using as their mixer to the deck itself. I have a Mackie 1604, but it only has 8 outputs so I'm going to have to purchase a new mixer to go with it.
I was looking at the Behringer Eurodesk MX9000. Is this a...
I always found the sound production on the Gabriel albums a little on the thin and tinny side.
However, the production on "A Trick of the Tail" (the first with Collins on lead vocals) is just freaking amazing. The opening surge of sound on the first song, "Squonk," is just blissful to the ears. :D
Yes, very constructive.
I called Mackie and they gave me a local location to have the mixer serviced or gave me the option of sending it to them. Somehow sending it to them seems like a much better and safer idea to me.
Anyway, thanks everyone. At least nobody here laughed me...
I just received my MXL 2003 and was getting ready to test it out and to my dismay the MXL-56 shockmount has a smaller threads where you screw it onto a stand than my mic stands. What gives? Any mic clip has always fit on any of my boom stands and I just assumed it was a "standard" size. I was...
Shreve Audio lists the microphone with colors: Black, Silver, and Green/Gold
http://www.shreveaudio.com/marshmxlv67.html
Perhaps you can order any of the colors through them. This is the only site I've ever found to show a picture of all colors in the v67 line. And I've never seen the silver...
Pardon me if this isn't the proper forum to post this, but I just received in the mail my new MXL 603s mics and took out my mixer from being in its case for the past few months to test them. I did a check through on all the buttons/knobs after being out of use for a while and to my horror the...
Pardon me if this isn't the proper forum to post this, but I took out my mixer from being in its case for the past few months and did a check through on all the buttons/knobs and to my horror the Mute button on channel 8 is stuck in the Mute position rendering channel 8 unusable. When it is...
Heh heh, now THAT's funny. :D You crack me up sometimes, Chessrock. Silver has never done anything to me. I just figured if they were the same price, then it the only difference between them was the color and then it was a choice of aesthetics!
Also, I've been meaning to ask you, on that...
However, you can get the MXL 2003 from zZounds for the same price (actually, 4 cents cheaper!) as Mars Music sells the v93.

Thanks again, everyone. This microphone forum has been so informative. Especially Harvey Gerst. My gosh, he is such an wealth of information! Thanks Harvey!
I'm going to go with the AT Pro 25 for the bass and bass cabinets. After looking at their respective frequency responses I like the...
I was going through my old box of equipment and found an AKG microphone that I am unfamiliar with: AKG D 1000 E. It is a slender silver mic, 200 ohms, made in Austria, and a three way switch at the bottom with the settings "B", "M", "S". Anybody have an idea what this switch is for and what...
I'm sorry but I'm not quite sure what you mean by "got pres?" and why this will cause me to spend a couple of months making another web page. I use a Mackie 1604 mixer with 16 channels into the computer with n-Track, so the 4 or 5 channels thing is taken care of. Basically, then, I am...
I have been recording for years with purely Shure SM58s and a SM57 and am now in the budget to expand my sound with some condenser mics. I've been happy with my past recordings but really need to add some depth, especially with the drums and vocals.
Well, after careful combing through all of...
I've finally decided to get a pair of Marshall MXL 603S mics for overheads but now I want to add a vocal and acoustic guitar mic. Is the MXL 1006 a good mic for this? Or would I be best served by getting the Rode NT1? Any of you used other vocal/acoustic mics that you can recommend?
Thanks...
