Why does my disk stop in the middle of the song?

I can't burn CDs on my Tascam off of my Roland. It says its compatible. What am I doing wrong? When I tried I followed the manual that came with the Roland and it just wouldn't record. I could hear the music and the Tascam would come on but the timer would not start Any help would be...
